Protection Paladin updates

With the class tree that is one of the more limiting once in the game, I was hoping for some updates regarding this in this patch also seeing how hard it is to get into keys as Prot Paladin they seem to be pretty low in the hierarchy as it is. Ranking in B tier in both raiding and m+.

Seeing how all the other specs around the same place as Protection Paladin is getting changes and buffs I fear for the viability of the spec. As it stands right now I wouldnt mind a nerf to utility if other aspects of the spec is buffed because in reality nobody is looking for a utility tank they want damage/survival and if they bring some utility thats all good which for example Warrior does, Battle Shout, AoE Stun and Rallying Cry three things that will be useful on every single boss and is perfect examples of great utility.

Problem is with Protection Warrior so far ahead other tanks need buffs to take them up a notch or more significat nerfs on Warriors than this patch offers. And right now this patch is dropping Paladins further down the list due to other tanks getting buffed.

While Paladin apart for Holy get nothing, same goes for Ret they are in dire need of some changes to make the spec feel better to play. Also the changes for Holy adds basiclly nothing to help the class just a few updates for the caster style which I don’t think is enough to get it favored so once again Paladins was ignored despite being bottom tier in alot of areas.

i feel your pain lol, ive litteraly had people decline me for m+10 on my near 400il prot pala, ive pm the leader and actually got back sorry we would prefer to bring dh/warr we want timed…blizz turned palla into a joke and its a long running joke at that, part i hate most is slowpoking it behind my group as they all zoom ahead with their various mobility tricks while i look like a relic hoofing it behind them at a snails pace. oh oh and the stand in your aoe to reduce damage crap… hate it…if u aint in your aoe take stupid ammounts of more damage…im constantly having to watch my step on a boss because god forbid i step out of conc and get hit hard … ridiculis… rant complete.

So i other words you want the mobility of Warrior and not the fantasy (concecration) of Paladin.

What do you like about the Paladin then? Cause there are things that kinda defines classes you know.

Wow, amazing how someone can read something and don’t understand a single word of what was being said.

Hey, if that isn’t actually a funny idea :star_struck:
• change Consacration from “placing on ground” to “placing at player” (cast at?)
» Consacration will move with you (I don’t mind if within a limit)
» yet stil work as an aoe for the party / giving its benefit to players in its area/range
– basically turn it into a sort of aura / aoe buff that stil needs to be casted & have its short lasting time
– if not as default, maybe as a talent to choose as alternative to place on ground

PS. I wouldn’t mind this to apply also to dk’s Death & Decay as having same issue: just casted and "…oh damn I need to move cause incoming bad s*** yay! :face_exhaling: another rune & 5% haste talent wasted… :weary: " (at least Consacration doesn’t use holypower stacks lmao )

Personally, as I had issues with “forgetting” to keep casting it, I made 3 macros that will cast it anyway:
• Rebuke + Consacration
• Shield of the Righteous + Consacration
• Ardent Defender + Consacration
» as the first spells are out of the GCD, Cons. will get casted with them
» if you don’t have holypower stacks to use SotR, u can stil press it and it 'll just cast Cons. alone (and therefore i removed default Cons. from my spellbar :sunglasses: )
» you could do even more of those macros, one for each spell out of GCD, you 'll never miss cast Cons. again!

When it comes to consecration I would say this is a bad idea since the CD of it is so low, your losing out on sevral GCDs a min by doing it this way for no gain. Better to make a weak aura to track duration of it so you can easily see when its up and not.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. The only way binding it to other abilities would be beneficial would be if they took consecration itself off the GCD (which wouldn’t be an unreasonable suggestion seeing as standing in it is so important for us defensively).
