Manticore is a different beast to Wyvern.
Just like the game of thrones âdragonsâ are actually Wyverns, they think close enough so put it in the dragon category.

Wyrm doesnât have legs so it pretty much looks like snake with dragon-ish head.
Wyvern has 2 legs and 2 front arms are working as wings

Blizzard could have said Gnomes are dragons and it would be correct for WoW.

Proto-drakes do have small stubby forelegsthough so they are indeed dragons.
That doesnât make wyvern a dragon because those are two separate beasts
4 legs 2 wings. Which is dragon according to the internet.
Well, kobolds are usually a reptilian-draconic race, and yet in WoW theyâre some weird rat-like people.
And proto-drake has 2 legs and 2 arms which are also wings.
Dragons have separate 4 legs and separate 2 wing like e.g. Malygons or Ysera which are a proper dragons.
Take a quick look at them again. They have 4 separate legs and 2 wings.
Though the forelegs are like t-rex arms.

But those arenât LEGS and dragons have 4 LEGS on top of that they are still NOT Drakes.
Do not discriminate the Proto-Drakes!
They might be old but they are still very much dragons like their descendants!
They are not dragons.
