Alright team, listen here. I’m gonna come up with the most controversial opinion ever but… Genesis Mote farming, Big L tbh. None like sitting at a portal and one shotting mobs for 10 hours straight to get like 5 mounts and 2 pets.
What if we could turn Cosmic Flux and/or Anima into Genesis Mote? Woah wild. I say it is time. Because trust me if i get bored of it during a pre-patch where nothing is happening. 2 years later when someone’s like “lemme get some mounts for me 500 mount achi” they’ll hate it even more.
#fluxformote #animaformote
tl;dr i wanna craft cute pets but i don’t wanna afk at a portal for it.
That is one thing, at least not soulbound
But the lattices???
I commited severe vespicide for that vespoid lattice…
And the lupine lattice wasn’t a joyride either
Hands down, this was one of the worse ideas of Blizzard
Or i could spend the 100k+ Cosmic Flux or 1m+ anima i have on things that will help me with finishing my collectables. There is no loser in a system where you can purchase Protoform Synthesis materials.
Generally speaking, Protoform Synthesis is a huge fail if you ask me.
They replaced grinding for rare drops and RNG with the same, AND also the crafting part AND finding the schematics.
I got like 8 mount schematics total (out of 25 or so), and I played ZM quite a lot, got all all achievements except 2 really slow and grindy ones. I wish there was some in-game indication on how to find more of them, like with actual professions.
It’s all about checking the guides as usual, except there are more steps. The whole thing would have made perfect sense even lore-wise if you could see the mounts in a nice in-universe database and you could target whichever you like.
Personally, as someone without ‘end gameplay’ I think the IDEA in principle wasn’t a bad one. There needs to be some longer term stuff to work towards, otherwise back to the usual tumble weed for open world pve players at the end of an expansion, or future alts.
Implementation wise it could be improved.
This is good, BUT in order for the motes to drop EACH alt needs significant specific research progress first. It took me a while to realise why I wasn’t getting motes on some alts.
This ended up being a study session via Wowhead and an addon, then realised some mounts require Raid only items. 2 year + wait for those… lovely…
Looks at the enormous pile of empty cans of RAID.…
It would be lovely if there was an item that could be obtained via a vendor or quest with (on use option) to boost the drops for an hour of genesis motes, anima,
etc. It might make it easier to focus the farm and feel a bit more progress.
I agree. But, the idea itself was really good. When I first saw the idea, I was 100% it was gonna be executed like this:
Hard to get schematics, yet guaranteed (which would be ok)
Easy to obtain reagents
But in reality, we got:
Hard to get schematics (especially the paragon chest one and the Mawsworn hulk one)
Incredibly boring genesis motes, which dropped only from random mobs which served ABSOLUTELY NO PURPOSE. They could have made them drop from rares, chests, anything interesting, but no…
Annoying lattices, which are not that bad, but the idea could be handled alot better i.e. something like Nesingwary’s trophy quests - guaranteed latice on killing let’s say 50 small vespoids.
Incredibly annoying rare materials. And don’t even get me started on the Sepulcher one from Lihivum which I gave up on. And even others, like the one from birds around Sepulcher etc.
As an almost unhealthy mount collector (I’d happily farm Sha of Anger of 40+ characters all with bonus rolls but not this.) This system cured me of my addiction. It is beyond awful.
I’m not sure I would hate the grind because I never started it.
Because the problem with the Protoform Synethesis system for me personally was that I did not like any of the mounts or pets. I simply don’t like this ‘digitized’ ‘faceted’ look that the mobs in ZM have.
I normally am completely okay with grinds, but it needs to feel like it’s worth the trouble.
Some people made the math on wowhead comments. You need about 18400 of these. Actually good to know that there is an end goal and isn’t infinite. Problem is the drop rate is very -bad- and we have gazillions of other resources we aren’t getting to use and just pile in our currency tab as they keep dropping from any endgame content.
Perhaps even if not now, in future it should be a consideration to use these currencies for exchange mechanics to other stuff in these kind of zones.
