PSA: TRP3 is affected by a bug on the PTR, but it's getting fixed

That’s difficult when you cannot easily see who is a roleplayer and who is not. Having to rely on external sites and planning is not everybody’s cup of tea. It’s even worse when you’re a new roleplayer, as you’ll have next to nothing to go by.

It does feel like a very “I’ve got mine” or “I’m alright jack” attitude. -shrug-

LOTRO and FFXIV have a roleplaying flag that you can toggle on and off.

If only WoW had something like this implemented in the game itself. If only.

I still love just how much roleplay friendly mechanics LOTRO has with the RP flag, built in TRP-system, family trees etc.

I want this for WoW so badly.

If only it still had an active RP scene…

The US server is apparently very active. Both for content and RP. Laurelin had a mass exodus due to RP drama.

There’s Clubs right… proceeds to hide

Imagine if quality of life stuff was added for roleplayers without having to kick up a massive fuss, see tongues pot.

Wouldn’t just be swell ?

A separate RP mode would be fantastic.

Then they can implement all the conveniences roleplayers need, without those affecting “normal” servers.

But, yeah, that’s a pipe dream, I suppose.

Which one is the US server again? Landroval? Laurelin is the one I roleplayed on until it dwindled and diminished, and the glory of the elder days was past.

I could try starting over on the US server.

I’ve always found it a bit weird for how much the original WoW focused on RPG mechanics and setting up the world as very RP friendly (even in presentation like in guidebooks), RP itself has always felt like it’s been barely tolerated and very much bottom of the line in priorities or even acknowledgement.

WoW is the least RP-friendly MMO with the exception of all the others.

Kinda funny that, because its the only game I have wanted to be a part of the world and roleplay in.

And that’s what so strange, because Classic and original WoW in terms of mechanics and presentation was set up to basically be perfect for RP. Alot of attention to world details and ways to immerse you into your character. And as I said, alot of the promo material and guidebooks also pushed this. And later WoW has continued alot of the trends with the presentation of the world making it ripe for roleplay.

Yet the average playerbase has a near hostile view of RP itself and Blizzard seem to not even think it exists.

Uh, no. IDK how TRP3’s scanner deals with phasing issues, but it’s still very convenient to check a zone and see if people are RPing there. Without it, I guarantee people’s convenience just sequesters them into public Discord groups to find RP rather than fly over a zone on the off-chance there’s ppl. Or confines them to larger cities e.g. Stormwind just because you likely won’t find any RP anywhere else than already used large RP centers.

And if they did so, it would have already been announced. This would be a huge RP / immersion change that would be marketed if it were in the works. They could do this in TWW with Warbands and make it y’know, more warband-y.

Hopefully this is just a PTR thing, but this is also something that Blizzard should urgently respond to and until they don’t, players should continue to make a big stink about it, as otherwise they might go ahead with this change on live servers as well and then it’ll be too late.

I’m not sure how you can just say this so brazenly. How do you think communities formed?

Same, with the (pre-Timeskip) exception of SWTOR. And that was hard. Like, I would caveat as being the one MMO I can think of that’s hard to RP in.

They don’t even have chat bubbles. Chat. Bubbles. I just… What? What.

The absolutely Barest Minimum effort, still mildly inconvenient, for a function that should be a Menu Option, and continues to annoy the heck out of me that it isn’t.

If this is implemented, one of the things that may help is “saving” all the profiles by assigning a tag to them. The addon tends to wipe the profiles of other roleplayers that don’t have a tag such as “friend” or “enemy” assigned to them, but it stores them when they do. Even if the character belonging to the profile hasn’t been seen for a while.

-… then it is just a matter of tagging 100s of profiles.

While I enjoyed the story, the damage it did to the RP scene is wild. Even today one of the most common questions to ask if you find an RP guild is “What timeline are we in?”

Like just saying addons are a thing because something is not in the game… adding one would oh I dunno… solve this entire issue ?

They already even have TRP, pay the guy who made it and like bake it into the game for the ultimate lazy solution.

Like theres so many easy fixes.
