Glad the discussion re: Nelf players annoyance was settled amicably.
Honestly, I complain about bad writing because it’s… bad? There’s no good excuses here, honestly. We’ve seen time and time again how much ‘depth’ the ‘twists’ have, and the fact that morally grey is a meme in and of itself speaks volumes.
I’m just tired. I want to enjoy the game. I want to RP unimpeded by bad retcons and removed hubs and the drag of feeling demotivated because of said nonsense, and having friends also feel demotivated as per. Yes, it’s Just a game. But I play games to escape the drudgery of irl at the moment, and when that escapism is made frustrating… yeah, I think I’m allowed to get a little bit miffed from time to time, y’know?

I’d really love an elaboration on tauren lore (and tauren specifically, not Highmountain).

I think in general most of the less popular races eg gnomes/tauren/trolls suffer from ‘all of my race is just one character in story’.
Yeeee. I’m gonna be crucified here but I don’t think Baine is as bad as people make him out to be. He’s no worse than Jaina or Anduin, all three suffer from pretty serious writing issues.
But I do wish we had more than Baine. Mayla was half-way set up to be a new character then just… dropped. Dropped harder than Aggra after she had Thrall’s babies. Wheeze

Magatha dies from whatever and is revived Calia-style, except infused with the void instead of the light.
She now somehow becomes the tauren faction leader and no one is asking any questions.
Baine may or may not have disappeared in the maw.

God this only reminds me of the fact that our heritage questline was just used as ad space for Shadowlands.
Could literally swap everyone involved with orcs, trolls or any other vaguely spiritual race and it would be identical.
Should we address the centaur? Quillboar? Our life in the Horde? Nah, our heritage quest is sponsored by RAID SHADOWLANDS.

I’d agree that Baine gets a lot of flak due to bad writing, imo.
He could very much have been an interesting character; relating to Anduin due to struggling to follow his Father’s legacy, while also having a much more nomadic as opposed to urban mindset.
Anduin prefers diplomacy above all. Baine could have leaned far more to the Tauren (and Thrall like method) of “peace of you can, death by 10’ totem pole club if you can’t”…

Afaik the reason why people love taking potshots @ nelf posters is because they have this hysterical victim hood mentality some of the players have guzzled all the way from Warcraft 3 where the cope starts from “Baaaah the night elves should have just owned the orcs!” all the way to modern WoW where it’s never good enough, always bad, and no matter whatever the hell they are given (when literally many races like tauren or pandaren can go several expansions without ever shining anywhere), it’s always something wrong with the writing.
It seems that if they had their way night elves would just own everyone and indeed you do see this getting suggested frequently where people keep asking “Yo why aren’t nelves just their own faction”.
So even when their grievances are legitimate, seeing them writhe about how their favorite race is owned again Ala-Argonians in ESO is an endless fountain of comedy gold, sustained by the players themselves.

Er… sure? Pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever openly complained about Tyrande’s writing on these forums. I don’t exactly have plans to go on about it because I’m sick of endless Night Elf discourse myself. If you wanna clump me into some cringe group of endless Nelf whiners based on 1 post then go ahead I guess. You think it’s bad here you should try using Twitter for 5 minutes. Actual insane people there.
