Can’t be that abandoned since it updated absolutely fine last month, the first time I opened it since I played a NMM-using game a year or two back.
Just use NMM instead of whatever the new one is, it still works fine+dandy. I had no issues.

Meanwhile, I’ve not modded elder scrolls since Morrowind.
Its called Vortex. And it sucks. I preffer NMM way more

the best place to start
Where do you download NMM from? There was no link to it on Nexus and when I tried to update it and add mods to it (when they’d just introduced Vortex) it wasn’;t having any of it.
Nexusmods is down for maintenance, I’ll come back to you.
Works for me, just tried downloading a random mod (manually from the website itself).

Turns out the link’s on github anyway lmao
Grab the .exe from this page to install, should be good to go. My old one just auto-updated to it either way.
TY my guy!
We’ve been playing loads of Skyrim lately and modding it into a beautiful, modern game. I like to play in third person so I’ve invested in some cool animation mods, camera, and an archery overhaul mod which adds a projectile trajectory indicator to help you aim in third person over long distance.
Between that and the ENB overhaul which breathes so much life into the world graphically, Skyrim’s looking pretty good in 2021.
I was hunting some mammoths (and giants) the other day and they failed to catch me out of sneak because of how broken the sneak archer mechanics are in Skyrim. They were frantically searching around until they found some bandits nearby and began to duke it out between themselves while I just watched. A patrol of Imperial legionnaires happened in the area and joined the fray.
Another time I ran into like 8 bears back to back to back in the Rift trying to make my way to High Hrothgar. I tried running, but the bears were everywhere. I must have wiped out the entire bear population of Riften because god damn there was no end to the army of bears I stumbled upon.
B-but having to learn trajectories is the fun part…
In first person it’s doable. In third person it’s a pain in the but I like to play in third person and see all the cool realistic but still stylish armour mods I’ve installed.
Yeah, fair. Archery wasn’t made with third person in mind past a certain distance.

Here’s a gif of it in action. The third person camera zooms in for an over-the-shoulder view when you draw the bow to full draw, which is when the trajectory aimer comes out and it lets you aim some pretty darn precise shots in third person, especially with the slowed time archery perk. With quick draws it remains same old vanilla camera.
Got another mod which added some rings to the game that I looted off a Dragon Priest that consumes 30 magicka to add a bonus 30 [elemental] damage to each arrow you shoot, depending on the ring type.
Mine adds fire damage since I largely go around clearing dungeons, ridding the world of the supernatural (despite being a vampire myself ) and fire is generally a good idea against them.
“You dare turn me? Suffer for your hubris!”
The ring thing seems genuinely nice, though and it’s a crime that it’s not in the base game.
More or less. Got infected by a vampire while I was clearing a cave and now I’m on a revenge quest.
Heard they were reforming the Dawnguard. Vampire hunters or something. In the old fort near Riften. Might consider joining up myself.
I miss my vampire lord mod that gave it a better talent tree.
Also the coldfire spell mod, now my fireballs are blue!
I was about to run up to a bandit fort but a dragon spotted me and came down.
Now the bandits are fighting the dragon and I’m waiting to finish off whoever survives.
also there’s a mudcrab fighting the dragon for some reason? To his credit, the mudcrab is doing surprisingly well.

This is how my skeleton vs. fire demon goes in DS3. The skeletons can do surprisingly well bearing in mind the fire demon can just oneshot multiple of them.
I’m a huge fan of piling on the realism mods. Take three hits in combat and you’re toast kinda things.
It once took me five hours to walk from Whiterun to Solitude. Two dragons, a necromancer-infested fort, hostile weather on the hills that turned me into an icicle. The whole lot.
