To be the devil’s advocate, would it be so bad to just let them have a blonde elf? It feels like a minor thing to finally get them to be quiet…
That’s the thing though, they will not be quiet if they got blonde, they’d demand something else.
over and over again. These people will NEVER be happy.
I’d think having a blonde, blue-eyed elf on Alliance would settle all their demands, no? I mean, is there even something else left to demand besides making helves a full on playable race of their o-… oh.
Also paladin.
EDIT: Look, there was a massive list of demands from the helf community and as i said in the peeves thread, because of some of these obsessive people, I hope that velves get NOTHING.
“PALADINS FOR VOID ELVES”
“ALLERIA FACE PAINT”
“NO VOID ELF RACIAL ANIMATION”
at least 3
Make us better versions of the blood elves and give the belves NOTHING.
Platinum blonde stinks.
Gimme ginger or bronze. Ginger is power.
I think both types of Thalassian elf should have it.
Gold, red or green on the belves.
Purple, blue or silvery lilac on the velves.
Blood elves are the true race so shouldn’t be left behind like the loons want.
They’ll then ask to have woad tattoos covering their privates and faces
Then necklaces and jewelry featuring Alliance motifs
Then a Void/High Elf mode toggle ala Worgen
Then a second Heritage Armor for Void Elves that’s more in line with High Elves
Then a racial questchain that replaces their Void abilities with High Elven themed ones
Then a High Elven chocobo variant as a second racial mount
Then a unique High elf dance they can use while in High Elf mode
Then unique voicelines
You will never, ever, ever satisfy High Elf players
I think you meant velves there the second time.
Still, personally I think more customisation is always a good thing, I’m sure there’d be many people who’d be happy with it that -aren’t- whining as much as the usual helfposters. Still, I guess we will see how far Blizz caves to the demands to salvage the game. I personally have no horse in the helf-race, but others that I know do.
To be fair, I didn’t, and then one of the fanatics came along and crapped on my doorstep.
But seriously, I am so tired of them that it just makes me want them to get faff all.
To quote a forum mod after shutting down a thread:
Give them an inch, they’ll take a mile
Ah you meant that guy who had a meltdown about belves on the forums not long ago?
I ultimately, am quite ambivalent whether void elves get blonde hair. Though I do wish they’d not make them blood elves but ALLIANCE, aesthetically. They are, ultimately, void elves. And steadily giving them every blood elf customisation to sate some rabid sect of the fanbase which routinely harasses devs is going to deplete my stores of copium.
It’s just really scuffed that this single allied race has more customization than some base races and while other allied races have, despite the meager customization options added to them, remained quite scuffed.
But ultimately I am of the opinion that allied races were a mistake, literally an excuse to be lazy with added races. Most should simply be customization options for existing races.
What do we think Nightborne will actually get? So high elves can get back out of the light.
And I hope the new toys are in fact longer length reflective prisms.
Before that, but he is definitely a reason why i still don’t want them to get anything.
There are some right absurd Helf stans on the european forums. he’s just one of them.
They need a full model improvement tbh, to be brought in line with the actual NPCs.
Nightborne need more than one good face too.
If they add a face or two with more narrowed eyes, throw in some arcane ended hair (dark iron dwarves have fire hair so it can’t be that hard) and arcane tipped limbs, I may edit my lock and go play it.
The reasoning I see here is that Velves and Belves are 1:1 the same model bar a select few hairstyles and the rest is just recolors. As per Blizzard’s statement in various interviews prior to SL’s release:
I think a lot of things on the table as a result of this. The first step that enabled all of this was a large engineering undertaking to rebuild how our characters are put together under the hood. So that adding more options isn’t like literally an exponentially scaling, effort investment, which is how it would have been under the old system. That’s what limited us to how we built character models and what options we could offer.
And so now that we’ve kind of cracked that open, yeah, all of that is on the table. We are still going down the list of the races that haven’t been updated yet and getting those into alpha soon. But that’s an effort that’s going to continue after Shadowlands is out the door. And we’re really excited about the passion the community has around it. Our artists love going through all those ideas and suggestions and seeing what people are hyped about and seeing what we can make real.

Their statements were meant to reassure are that there are more on the way as it’s now easier to churn out additional options for the player characters. This was proven by the horde of enthusiastic fans mass producing faces, skins and numerous additional options for all playable races (and with relative ease per these content creators’ statements) days after the following turd that was pushed in our faces during Blizzcon:

And now we are back to them adding more stuff anyway to appease some copium-addicted morons who think this is a sign of good will.
