They could do anything they want with this such as Blackmoore’s take over of the Alliance, instead they’re going for the most tepid “what if” takes.

it is of critical importance to the wellbeing of the timelines though
unlike saving nozdormu, breaking all the time-y stuff to do that won’t have any big consequences and is a good thing to do because uhh don’t worry about it
I don’t think it’s a piece of lore/background that needs to be changed, but having the player character be an active cause of it /it continuing for as long as it did in a quirky funny zany cheese timeline sidequest that also features alexstrasza begrudgingly agreeing that this is good, actually, is just so wildly out there that I genuinely have no idea how this passed the draft board

The ghost of renewal strikes again.
All while Alextrasza is literally standing right next to you, with these dialogue options that let you know exactly how messed up the storyline is. You know, just in case you felt like they weren’t going to really go into full detail about it and not describe Alextrasza’s reaction.

Long story short; while they can keep this piece of old lore.
They literally had zero reason to single out this one piece of old lore, which has zero baring on current lore, for a Time-thingy-daily. Especially when they have a zillion other scenario’s to choose from. Even if they wanted to keep focussing on the Second War; they could have us help free Alexstrasza Prime Consort from Grim Batol to face Deathwing and not reference this -at- all if they did want to focus on the Second War.
Hell, more importantly and probably more linked to the current expansion, would be if the focussed on having us help Deathwing send Sabellian to Draenor to reform the Black Dragonflight!
Which would both expand the lore and have us witness the moment where the Black Dragonflight “gets saved”. Even if Sabellian was corrupted back then…

and who have access to this quest and info before it even hit the PTR
It was; people on twitter did not like this quest. They do not like alot of quest of the olden days of WoW, but non as much as this quest, which has literally zero bearing on current WoW-Lore.
Some not did like it, because bad trans-reprensation(sp?) or whatever.
Others did not like it because r*pe is just plain wrong and not a topic (most) games should not touch, at all.
And then we have the crew who thinks old lore is holy and should not be touched in current Warcraft lore, at all…

They’re probably still reeling from Bobby stopping just shy of going full Joe McCarthy and accusing them of being communists out to destroy america.
For those not loop I’m referring to recent statements in which he declared that acti-blizz did nothing wrong and that it’s all lies concocted by a “very aggressive labor movement working hard to destabilise the company.” and “outside forces” out to sap and impurify americas precious bodily fluids.

Well I took that bit about precious bodily fluids from Dr Strangelove but the rest is from a Variety magazine interview at the end of May. Which you will have to google yourself because I don’t have enough social credit points to post hyperlinks.

It could be anything from them not knowing the lore and implications of the quest (from what I have seen it never explicitly refers to what happened) to them not feeling it’s that bad or maybe just slipping below their notice due to ActiBlizz having terrible PR situations pretty much bi-daily at this point.
Nah, I think it’s just them having zero integrity.
Could be but I am hesitant to state that as fact without more information especially considering a recent case where, as mentioned above Bobby the Tick is shaming worker’s advocacy groups and shoving the blame onto them.

This, and then I will probably be able to use the Old Netherdrake mounts as Dragonriding mounts aswell makes me a very happy egg!
Now I’ll hope they’ll get some sort of story relevance aswell!

The quest names Nekros directly, giving a strong implication they knew the lore - it seems unlikely they designer would know who Nekros was without knowing the context.
