PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 2)

Parts of the mage general tree have become better, including a bunch of talents that made the whole thing a hassle, and fire and frost got some major revamps with how their talents and abilities work. I think they did something to Arcane too, but I wouldn’t be able to tell, I don’t touch the spec since ages ago.

The TL;DR I can give to someone who doesn’t play mage is that the specs play like actual classes for all their gameplay and not for just a few seconds every few minutes at a time.

Bellular made a pretty good condensed video about it.

Sounds all in all like a good improvement, maybe I’ll fix up my mage and see how the specs play when this drops.

no that one is objectively hilarious
Especially because they don’t change the zone to be winter-y, so the rocks are really obviously visible and he still takes the plunge

this lines up with arthas implying that he did it on purpose

If they need a wintery zone, why not use the Alterac Mountains?

Gotta take place in its canon location.

If you ported him to Alterac who knows how the timeline might have changed.

Chromie already says that the egg you move to get noticed by Rhonin wasn’t supposed to be in Dun Algaz, so if the developers were concerned about location accuracy, that ship has already sailed.

That is a much more disturbing and creepy version of the event compared to the stupidity of the CoT dungeon, where Arthas casually walk up to a civilian asking why he’s there with a “heh, dont worry…smirk” attitude and kills him in broad daylight infront of everyone.

Hi, would you mind telling which server is that?

Epsilon probably.

Looks like last PTR update added some Warlock NPC’s:

Jaxos Widdowson & Lorraine Darktide: Jaxos appears to use a very Drust-esque clothing style, while Lorraine uses the style of a Kul Tiran Tidesage, making her perhaps, a redeemed follower of Lord Stormsong and his K’thir?

Lai de Emberscroll: appears to be the Huojin Warlock & Haoqi the curious is a blind, Tuishi Pandaren Warlock trainer! Meanwhile Skodi & Awakaya appear to be the Zandalari Warlocks of prominence, with a very Zandalari clothing style!

Grimroz Darkwhisper appears to be the AU Shadowmoon Clan Warlock, and he stands apart from the rest!

Se’tah Bloodtotem confirms te be a remnant of the Bloodtotem Tribe, and her existence also confirms they are still around AND a part of the Horde! And Tihkan Soultotem is a Tauren Warlock who takes seat in Magatha Grimtotems’ old tent, he also wears Grimtotem warpaint, strongly implicating he is, in fact, a Grimtotem himself!

Soulspeaker Niir is a Broken Draenei Warlock trainer! Kinda cool they use a Broken for this! Funny side notice is that his Alt-Draenor counterpart is Shadowspeaker Niir!

Kinda mid honestly, think between shaman and this they should really stop using broken as a foundation for draenei classes

Yea, I get that point! But I think lorewise, it would make sense to introduce… A darker kind of magic to the Draenei through the Broken?

Ofcourse it would be possible with just Draenei aswell, as that Lightforged Draenei Warlock showed us! But I think this is a nice middleground as Draenei Warlock RPers can draw from both LFD Warlock lore and Broken Warlock lore!

Best, ofcourse, would be adding Broken customisations to playable Draenei, or just having Broken and Ogre’s added as Allied Races!

I will say that I appreciate the flavour text of the Exodar guards offering directions to the player. That is, they lower their voice and clearly don’t like discussing it.

I don’t think there have been any Guard NPCs that spoke highly of Warlock trainers, even from the races that seemingly tolerate them.

Now that said I hope we see some flavor text from these new NPCs, like the priest and rogue ones, giving context to how and why they came to be warlocks. Not that I want intricacy (anyone can pick up a grimoire and summon an imp, be a social outcast and have an affinity for dark magic regardless of race), but it would be some neat world building.
