PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 2)

When I think steampunk technology in WoW, my first thought is also Arathi humans.

Not enough was made of the obvious kul tiran/gnome relationship and their comparitive technology.

And of course, commenters are already screeching about how the filthy wokes are ruining muh grimdark Warcraft.

It´s just hilarious to me how in the quest you visit people from various backgrounds, dracthyr who each made different choices, DKs and DHs, a void elf (whose dialogue strongly points at new void elves being made, so we finally have an answer to the question of whether there are any), talking about how their transformation changed them…and then there´s some random mother and an orc bookworm.

Between it all, I’m honestly just glad to see that the Skardyn finally made it ingame. Given that the original Skardyn were also the result of Xal’atath ( Modgud used her to curse Grim Batol), it’s nice that Blizzard still remembered them.

Lmao.

Atleast it fits with the aethestics!

Probably to highlight that transformation and change doesn’t have to be some wildly supernatural and explosive thing, it can be as simple as suddenly having to adapt to being a mother or struggling to accept your own eccentricities and your own deviation from the norm.

I beat you to it… Although not with some twitter link!

But on the topic, I would love a blue fire skin quest for Mages! or a Red frost reskin :smirk:

I think that disrupts the visual identity of frostfire, which is the very distinct and clashing elements of frost and fire being woven together for a single spell. These two elements are supposed to stand apart and clash with each other.

Not to be a little bit Eternally Salty.
However-

-puts my fist through the X TO DOUBT button…-

Underground? Throw in goblins.

And Gnomes. And Dwarves. And Drogbar. And Troggs. And Dark Trolls. :frowning:

I was thinking goblins because Horde angle.

I think Dark Trolls when I see talk about an Horde angle; a customisation option down the line(or even an Allied Race), hasn’t been used as much as Goblins, so could act as a fresh breath of air!

Plus Arathi Humans and (Dark) Trolls in one zone, there has to be some history!

It would hardly be something forced on you, but rather a spell visual that’s toggleable like the warlock green flame as name dropped in the tweet. When I personally think of frostfire, I think of the cold, blue flames we’ve seen time and time again from blue dragons to necromancers and everything in between. The actual frostfire bolt got a new spell visual in the alpha that matches the aesthetic you’re thinking of.

Nothing stopped them from including Undermine.

I was thinking of the visual of the original frostfire bolt from Wrath of the Lich King through to Warlords of Draenor, which always had that sort of look.

I understand the reasoning for the warlock green flame, which is iconic because of its association with all things fel, but I’m less convinced by blue flame for mages, when you rightly connect it not just to the blue dragons but to necromancers as well. It’s nowhere near as iconic.

It would be something cool to have for all mages, any toggleable spell visual would be, but I think it should be low on Blizzard’s list of priorities.
