Lemonsky did as good as they could with a job outsourced to them, seeing as Warcraft 3: Reforged was intentionally shot in the head by Activision.

Yes! I don’t think all of them quite cohere with the world, and there are a few interpretations I don’t like. There’s also the fact that the original intention to have male and female models for each Hero went missing between announcement and release.

But overall, it’s lovely to see some really high quality models in there. Oh, what could have been…

So they deliberately rolled back production and the budget and then forced the dev team to release it unfinished because they didn’t want to offer refunds.

Good grief. So it was intentional self-sabotage that cost ActiBlizz a good deal of reputation.

Ended up with Naga and Banshee’s having human ears aswell, no?

Also they wanted to add World of Warcraft locations like the Suramar-bubble in the Broken Isles.

They say it was the purist fault for that not being added, but I am certain it had more to do with a lack of budget and time… Otherwise they could’ve releases a “original” and a “remastered” version of the campaign :smirk:

Yep, sadly so.

I believe this was because the team behind the models had very little to no prior knowledge of Warcraft, and were simply handed some rough notes on what to make. They also had limited time to work.

(The model team was outsourced and not Blizzard)

It was definitely lack of budget that prevented them from overhauling the campaign, considering they did overhaul some missions (The Culling, The Fall of Silvermoon, The Siege of Dalaran, and bizarrely, The Dungeons of Dalaran and the secret mission The Crossing, which I think didn’t really need being overhauled).

I am still immensely annoyed that they shut down the old Battle.net servers over it though. Completely unnecessary move that gutted the WC3 community. It never really recovered as many still today refuse to get the Reforged edition. Especially with the lack of leader boards and tournaments.

Because they wanted to focus resources on higher profile games (Diablo 4).

Could’ve easily integrated that into the Reforged, one way or another, since they do allow the old version to be played aswell

The 2013 cancelled project must be Titan. I always said that Activision had been pretty hands-off with Blizzard for the first few years of owning them (Activision-Blizzard is a misnomer used to burnish the company name; Blizzard was only ever a component part of Activision; a more accurate name would have been Activision-Vivendi), and then something happened to change that. Blizzard spun gold out of Titan’s collapse (Overwatch), but that mustn’t have been enough for Activision.

At least I’ve resolved to feed it as little as possible, buying only WoW subscription and base editions of expansions, and nothing else.

I’d hardly call it the best. If anything that’s simply defeatism and refusal to try anything else over the status quo.
