Blizzard just has a weird interest in the archetype of “Le quirky race of mysterious origins that has access to where others cannot, strikes deals, collects shinies and speaks with an exotic (middle-eastern/sub-saharan) accent.”
Wolverines!
In all fairness, atleast two of those factions have the commonality of having been characterized as Legion/Demonic pawns. I wouldn’t be too shocked if there was yet /another/ Dreadlord orchestrating this entire thing out of left-field, as a tie-in to The Last Titan and the remaining Scarlet presence within Northrend. The novelization hints at a foreign Spymaster being the one to foster and direct Marran’s actions of dissent, which probably renders Marran’s group a third - if this turns out to be true.
I recall that the Scarlet Crusade had pamphlets mentioning Stromgarde and Arathi as far back as BfA, but it never led up to anything until now, when it seems as though the Scarlets have been retroactively made present in Stromgarde to an extent that you have Joseph preaching in open uniform (Stromgarde is also the place that directs you to him back in Cataclysm too, funnily enough)?
And presumably this might apply for the rest of Human lands, to justify the never-ending pool of Human recruits that Scarlets seem to churn out endlessly. Up until the Gilneas liberation campaign, the Alliance never really underwent direct millitary action against the Scarlet Crusade, choosing a tacit, live-and-let-live and avoid-as-much-as-possible policy. It’s tone-deaf in the wake of what happened in Gilneas (which itself was legitimately one of the weakest plots they’ve produced in DF), but w/e.
In relation to the MU Orcs being gone, I think it’s reasonable to expect them not to have an avid interest in lingering any further in a place of negative memory than they already have (especially now that more and more Orcs are becoming centralized in Durotar) while the Defilers have no purpose in maintaining a presence in Arathi insofar as their campaign seems to have been completely crushed and presumably routed back to Lordaeron?
Yes its that same Joseph.
Yessir. The Arathi sent the adventurer to help him reel the Scarlet Crusade into the Alliance’s fold - only for him to return and bring the Crusade’s gospel onto Strom a decade later. :)))

Dont forget the Scarlets claim to have the true born son of Calia Menethil in their ranks too! (Or was that cut content?)
it reads like moonguard content
So Faerin has Marran on her knees, about to deal the deathblow, when Danath runs up and yells “no! Mercy! Don’t make her a martyr!”
And Faerin stops like ??
And Danath is all “we have to stop the cycle of hatred, we should let Marran live so that the Red Dawn can disappear into the annals of history and be forgotten”
and Marran just stands up and goes “I will kill you all. This isn’t over. I fully intend to continue my work of trying to murder you. I am not repenting or apologising in any way. I do not feel bad. You suck, I hate you, I will kill you.”
and they still let her go!!! Just leave! She hits da bricks!
Very funny series of events. 10/10 would not punish her in any way again, I support women’s wrongs as well as women’s rights.
It makes me laugh (in shakes head, do the little dance, these people are lacking in marbles way, not funny-haha way) that people call WoW ‘woke’.
My inbred cousin in deity, that is THE most fence-sat, milquetoast Liberal ‘but both sides’ writing, YET again.
I like WoW, but would it kill them to get some ACTUAL skill at the top for writing, where it matters?
You say Liberal but even Karl Popper, God’s strongest defender of Liberalism, in his hit book “Open Society and Its Enemies” came down extremely hard on that type of thinking Danath did. He essentially believes that its intellectually moronic to the highest degree, because an ideology built upon hatred that is immune to rationality is an ideology that, in his view, must be made non-existent the minute it pops up to ensure liberal society can survive lest it be taken over by said ideology.
This is also where the paradox of tolerance comes from.
Yeah, fair.
It’s late and I’m tired, and I know I could still do a better job at writing Warcraft than the actual people paid to do so do for a frustrating chunk of time.
It’s the whole “The main/meaningful plot is terrible, and then there’s this sidequest writer over here getting people attached to bit characters and yanking on our heartstrings” like, HOW do they keep having that disparity?
They keep doing the forgiveness meme without realising that Hitler doesn’t want forgiveness because very importantly Hitler doesn’t think he’s evil. Forgiving him doesn’t suddenly give him the self-aware clarity to go “I am sorry mein freunds… what have I done…I must break the cycle…” he will just do it all again! Which is literally what Marran announces to Danath!! Danath has just created by his actions an underground supremacist movement, how on earth are you King!!!
does this happen or is this just a
post god i hate that i cant tell anymore
I don’t mind them using evil people over a longer period of time for certain stories, like Marran, or Iridrikon and Xal’atath.
But this whole ordeal with Marran is just plain stupid, especially if she said she would just continue with what she was doing. ![]()
Renewal and it’s consequences.
I paraphrased the dialogue a little for comedic effect but yeah, essentially

The writing feels very disjointed, perhaps still WIP but this exchange for example:
What would the wall would represent other than
A: Humanity’s fear of trolls or
B: Humanity’s slow decline from an age of glory
The wall is, I guess, a guiding light now? Faerin looks to the past but also the future? But the past is bad. The wall represents this too, in Faerin somehow.
It’s like they are skirting around an idea of what they want to write but they lack the ability to properly conceptualize it so they fall back on borderline word salad.
Again, flip-flopping writing and characterisation as a result of Solid Worldbuilding, and this apparent inability to NOT chop and change to chase… I dunno, writers ego, the current zeitgheist, the current ‘meta’? Whatever.
It’s immensely frustrating. I’m getting annoyed about character blurring/assassination for characters I’ve never even really got invested in. Bleh.
