Some good news for transmog hunters.

That is actually Great, holy moly

Still can’t transmog into items of the “wrong” armor type :frowning:

On one hand, I am fine with people not being able to transmog outside of their class, because then not everyone will look the same… (Battle-Mage in plate gear because)

On the otherhand, I want to be able to be a Battle-Warlock in plate gear because of reasons(Demon-themed Plate gear usually looks pretty awesome and easily combine able with cloth…)

That’s been possible since like…WoD though, with the Stormwind cosmetic set.

Yes, if their reasoning is muh class silhouettes, that ship sailed with cosmetic sets.

Yea, but nobody but Humans usually wear that armor… Because it looks like crap on non-Humans!

Right, but it’s not like that’s the only cosmetic set. It’s really just the one that started it.

Just look at my dark iron warlock running around in full plate mail, or all the cosmetic sets that warriors can use that look like cloth.

Like do these scream ‘Warrior’?

What class is wearing this? It’s any of them!

We’re nearly a decade past armour type mattering for silhouettes and the lines have only gotten more and more blurry. Stupid to keep them now.

Tell that the the Exile’s Reach BfA intro cinematic with your draenei in SW armor set.

I don’t want armor types to become ambigious. Even though all the arguments about cosmetic sets etc are completely valid, I just don’t want it. Simple as.

Fine, you’re right… Might aswell ffa it all… All classess for all races, all appearances for all classes and races.

Might aswell open up heritage armours for everyone aswell, I could use some of that Nightborne heritage armor in my Highborne appearance :smirk:

It’s an excuse, and a Bloody Stupid™ one at that. Has been for years.
“MuH cLaSS siLhou-” Shut up, nobody cares. Let us look cool, especially how bad certain set/class combos are for certain races. Like, damn if there was equality/parity they might have a point. And if over half the sets weren’t still 2004 looking :peach: with less polygons than updated race models ears for heck sakes…

Edit: want a Darkspear Troll mog that isn’t only just getting heritage in 2024 and has more than two dozen polygons? Welp, there’s bits and pieces scattered across two different armour types if you’re lucky, and lol lmao good luck finding weapons that match, sucks to be you I guess!

Its not that I am against it, but wasn’t it lore that Mages in plate armor are supposed to be hindered in their casting?

(And we all know they will never weave it into the story (Looking at “Priest” Anduin))

I care. As do many others.

Opening the rules will not change the fact that 9 out of 10 pieces of gear will always look attrocious on a race unless it is human or elf.

Personally, I’d want the ambiguity to remain. And I certainly do not want warriors in judgement set (the OG, he recolor is fine), mages in onslaught set etc.

One of the things I actually did not like at all come BFA was that the class sets were made uniform across the same armor type. I am a much bigger fan of class sets for each class.

I mean, look at the set I am currently wearing. Clearly there are lots of plate elements to it, but it’s still a robe. But I could mog a completely plate/mail looking armor too, as I have in the past.

But I’d prefer if the WoW’s armor rules and aesthetics were stricter, but at the same time offered more choices to choose from. We’ve only just started to have robes/kilts(jackets that do not look like dresses, but all those could have been a thing.

Equally for plate there should have been much more diversity between fieldplate and massive glowing rocks taped onto your torso.

Lore?

Lol.
Lmao.
Sorry, what’s one of thems?
I mean, yeah, you just gave a perfect example to counter that. I’m sure the devs themselves don’t even remember ever saying that, and even if it IS written down somewhere it’s not like any of them care.

Oke I have no idea how you want me to respond to that… Just because the current writing/dev team don’t care, means I should stop caring about something that has been close to my heart since I was 13, aswell?

I guess in isolation it seems like a small thing to do. What’s the harm in opening up the rules?

Just like there was no harm in fusing the factions together. Except that, you killed the reason for Horde to exist in doing so.

Just like there’s no harm turning all narratives morally gray- Except that that’s how we get Zereth mortis.

Just like there is no harm in making all classes available to all races. Except that, you kill the uniqueness of each race, and dilute their uniqueness through complex social structures and rituals to the said class (e.g. Paladins, druids).

In fact why have any classes at all? Let everyone just pick and choose and multiclass to their hearts content. Unironically even I think this could be omega cool, but I know, as do all of you, that Blizzard can’t and won’t be able to pull it off satisfyingly.

To me, all of these are just a continum of bad choices that have changed and will change the game for the negative. It’s my opinion against anybody elses and there are no right answers naturally, but here we are.

Are restrictions like transmog annoying? Yeah, certainly. But I think we should be careful in removing some of those said shackles, because when we unravel those annoying restrictions, we also unravel the seams that used to hold together such an ambigious and unique setting in the first place. Inside the box vs outside the box, etc.

SL, technically. Exile’s Reach was added in 9.0.

Fun fact: his generic npc equivalent in the maw intro is labled a paladin.

My point is that the ‘restriction’ has never ever, to my knowledge, been mentioned within the game or the lore and only ever existed as a meta restriction, and has already been rendered pointless since WoD anyway.

I’ve been caring about Warcraft since I was a pre-teen (WC2) and it feels like a Damn sight more than the devs do. I also don’t see any tangible benefit to keeping restrictions as is, so…?
