PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 4)

The fact that so little urgency is placed on the fact that the Wrynn line has no other heir than Anduin who seem to perpetually push back the matter at hand for whatever reason is just one of those thing that is peeve worthy. Even Genn brought the matter up and thank god there’s someone out there who remembered that one of the main job of royalty is to have children, preferably up to three for the sake of having spares in case the first just dies.

But since Old Man comic Anduin isn’t seen with a child of his own heading towards the final battle of Light and Void, let’s just assume he stays maidenless.

This is a sanitised American T-for-Teen fantasy setting, there’s not going to be succession wars between the noble houses of Stormwind over which dynasty gets to replace the Wrynns.

The fact that Anduin Wrynn disappeared and was presumed dead for several years and Turalyon (who was in born in Lordaeron, not Stormwind) was able to serve as regent with the full support of the noble houses serves as evidence of this. In a grittier, darker setting, the noble houses would be decrying him as a foreign tyrant and seeking to usurp him, but clearly that’s not the case.

Anduin can fart around on adventures with us until the end of time and Stormwind’s going to be just fine in his absence. It’s just how WoW works.

It’s called self-preservation. One simply does not mess with an immortal Lightforged paladin, especially if he has the best armed force of the entire Alliance and a literal spaceship at his beck and call. But indeed, succession wars are a thing that happened in lore all the time until recently. Speaking of succession, why didn’t Talanji name her consort yet is a question as well.

Not much point when she’s gay.

The bloodline ends with her.

I would have to check for myself, but this introduction looks kind of cool, IMHO.

The idea of an alliance that for once takes into account that different parties have different interests held together by a short-term goal is very compelling.

Edit.

If I were to make a minor complaint is mostly how something like a hVoid Lord should see more characters than just a ranger and xalatath coming together. They were introduced as the threat that had Sargeras go all out and change his mind over the titans’ design - and bam, just like that, they’re dealt with?

Not a big deal though, just… as others have stated, Fyrakk seemingly, somehow gathered more attention than a planet buster. And it goes unexplained so, ehh.

(I guess this is more of a world building thing than “story” though)

From what I read, it’s a Fragment of Dimensius, rather than the… whatever they did with N’zoth.

And Fyrak being a big, if suped up, Dragon vs a Galactic Entity kinda narrows down the ‘qualified for this gig’ pool.
Given, y’know, most of that pool was Dalaran. Was. :grimacing:

We will have to see, even if I -think- this is the big deal, as the Shadowguard’s purpose was, in part, to go through the cosmos and bring together multiple dimensius fragments.

At least as per new lore, but don’t quote me (yet) on this, we do not know if this is a fully powered up dude or not.

It’s actually a whole Dimensius. He was only missing a few by the time we get there and he gets them + the Worldsoul. Initially I also thought it was a tiny fragment but the quests are consistent about them having recovered his fragments, echoes etc., and being whole again just in time for the Player Character to be able to queue LFR. The Demon Hunter raid boss is actually partially responsible for it as well.

He is in fact, back to full power to the point where the raid fight is us travelling through space chasing him whilst he throws entire planets at us. Yes. Whole Planets.

I mean that does sound cool but, how does that even work? Do we become cosmic-sized ourselves?

Edit.
Can’t wait for the next quest to go “congratulations slayer of Dimensius! Your deeds were beyond this world. Now go kill 12 boars”

Unknown, but we do have dragonriding access and Xal’atath does throw us through warp gates throughout the encounter so I assume we are quite literally flying through space chasing and fighting him.

Keep in mind TWW is meant to be the most calm of the saga and we’re already at “universe-ending entity” level, so the Arathi / Velen’s visions of all the Gods dying trying to protect azeroth whilst the Void pretty much devours a large part of the planet might actually come true lol.

Guess I’ll have to wait and see then…

Don’t compare WoW to an incomparably better written game. It hurts.

FFXIV is where you, as an RPer, go and then learn to hate casual and social bar nights with a furious passion because you realise they’re devouring all the RP for no good, unique reason.

I think the Emerald Dream Avengers moment kind of falls into the theme of Shadowlands lore:
Yes, it´s canon. Do we really want Blizzard to acknowledge it?

Because I think most people agree it was dumb moment that made no sense. So what is more sensible and better for the lore going forward? Repeatedly explaining why we can´t summon portals or something to bring armies of Azeroth anywhere we want/actually summoning those armies with portals, or just ignoring that one time when armies of Azeroth somehow all portalled in? At the end of the day, it was a desperate attempt for big epic moment by writers who haven´t bothered (or were incapable) to set it up.
