PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Hey man, it would cost me a gnome too. It’s alright we can do it like this:

Shaman: orc, tauren, troll.

Death knight: blood elf, Forsaken.

Druid: Night elf, worgen.

Paladin: Human, dwarf, gnome.

Actually, there’s so many little edits to the factions/races I would make…

Since we’re in the spoilers thread, I’ll try and find a source from the Alpha making a distinction between warlocks wielding shadow magic, and others, more rarely, wielding Cosmic Void.

Edit: Couldn’t find it right off the bat. Datamined content is all over the place and I wasn’t quick-witted enough to save a screenshot when I saw an image of the ingame book/scroll/letter detailing it.

They are separate - though clearly connected.

Fairly certain it is reiterated in the ā€œShadows Risingā€ novel, as well.

Edit: It is. https://i.imgur.com/M07dEY6.jpeg

At this point really, let’s completely drop any pretenses of exclusivity and whatnot . We’ve been forever crawling our way to every race being capable of being played on any class. The only reason some are still restricted is a matter of practicality and not being too obvious that this is a cashgrab on race changes by giving bare bones lore.

Whatever f- it! Let everyone be everything. God knows this will be the ultimate result.

Patiently waiting for playable Ethereals as the second and only other Evoker race

I thought void was in the shadow sphere. So is shadow the true power and void is just some orbital chump within?

No!

Everyone playing monk will be forced to be a pandaren!
Everyone playing any other restricted class can pick any of the races that can still be that class!

No more peace.

Then wth was the point of that moment in the thousand year war? They made it sound like it was a big deal (it was not).

Anyway I like it being that way. I think they should not be able to touch one another, cooldowns or not.

Then again, what was the whole point with Lor’themar tweaking out when Alleria’s mere presence near Sunwell caused things to go wrong?

Why is Blizzard so quick to remove all obstacles or frictions from the setting? Why must everything just work???

I’m pretty sure the shadowmagic practised by necromancers, affliction warlocks and maldraxxus lot is most certainly not void magic. Maybe there’s a connection but I refuse to believe the two are the same. They are extremely visually distinct as well.

Yeah that’d be on the chopping block as well if I had my way.

I used to think this way. Then I started to see that anything I wanted in this game, Blizzard found a way to botch and/or make stupid.

I can promise you, they will find a way to do the same for Forsaken paladins too.

Amen sister.

An even more dilluted setting. No thanks.

They very much are connected, though going by the text from the Alpha (which I will commit time to finding again when no longer so busy IRL), shadow magic is by far the more common practice.

The text goes on to add that, it’s not as though victims are likely to notice the difference anyway - so no need to worry if Cosmic Void isn’t part of the caster’s arsenal. It’s a very tongue-in-cheek text as I recall.

There isn’t a trend of classes being even more restricted my good friend.
You may fight the current but you’ll be washed away at the sea just the same.

At least I’ll die with my taste buds intact!

Shadow magic (no capital S) is described as manifestation of Shadow/Void in the same way Holy magic is manifestation of Light.
So yes, they are technically distinct, the question is, would you say that paladins/priests don“t use the Light but instead use Holy magic? Because it“s the same principle, yet I don“t ever see people mention how actually Uther didn“t wield the Light.

Also, lots of what necromancers do (and even more so with Maldraxxi) is not as much shadow magic but death magic going by the new cosmology. So yes, someone from Maldraxxus having green/black magic distinct from Void makes sense because…well, itĀ“s completely different cosmic force.

Which makes sense as shadow magic is manifestation of Shadow/Void. However, it“s the same distinction as you might have between paladin wielding Holy magic and Light as a force.

Probably yeah, to distinguish between troll priests and say silver hand paladins.

NPC’s have been added to the High Elven Settlement in Quel’thalas, and its a Silver Covenant base(Vereesa’s base?)

The Silver Covenant has rangers using staves, lmao. Also they fly on Sylverian Dreamers, which I don’t dislike, but I had rather seen them on either Gryphons, Hippogryphs or even more prefferable, Dragonhawks!

Also love the fact that it appears to be a mix of reason as to why some joined the Silver Covenant. Like the dude who had people died in the bombing of Theramore, where the Sunreavers had a hand in it.

Also they will introduce Paladins to every Elven race this expansion. Night Elves will eventually join the other Elves and the Blood Elves will teach Paladinism to both the Nightborne and Night Elves, I am sure of it

So in your opinion, paladins don“t use the Light then?

Quiver transmogs from lemix have been made hunter exclusive on the 11.2.7 ptr, which is dumb. Loosen transmog restrictions, don’t tighten them!

ā€œForsaken live in the villages! >Iā€
Yeah buddy, unlike you those Forsaken actually helped getting the Scourge out from those villages.

Will enjoy bullying high elves over this.

I“m sure Lor“themar would have reacted really well to Silver Covenant coming in to help against the Scourge.

It“s not like he demanded they leave when they came to help against the Amani (on personal invitation from Ranger-General of Silvermoon nonetheless).
