Blizzard needs to fix the Cartel Chips thing. I do not raid Mythic. I do play Mythic plus. This reset I look in my vault and of the 3 options non is an upgrade for me while I have 7 slots where a myth track piece would be an upgrade. The vault is the only option for me to get a myth track piece. I can get trinkets from the trader, but that is it. No weapons that Mythic raiders can get. Mythic raiders also can get mythic track gear from the raid itself. M+ players can’t get the same type of gear from the loot boxes at the end of a dungeon. It feels like the currency is made for the wrong people. Mythic raiders have a fast bigger chance to get the gear they need (raid and vault) then M+ players do. On top of that also a part of the loot for M+ players is unavailable, where the same type of loot is available for raiders, being the weapons. I am not a person that is quick to complain, but I really feel shafted here and it kills my joy in the game.
Nuh, not really.
There’s no Gilded cap anymore. Go farm your 90 Gilded per piece and craft all your missing items as 681. Those final 3 ilvls you will not miss.
Mythic raiders also have to do mythic plus, especially now that the cap has been lifted, as M+ is an easy and cheap way to cap the gear you already have.
While M+ players do not have access to the mythic versions of the weapons and trinkets, said weapons and trinkets are also unavailable for 90% of the mythic raiding playerbase as well, same goes for trinkets as well. The weapons in particular I do not understand when for plenty of specs a crafted weapon with ascension is superior to the raid weapon drops.
The chip system is primarily good for casuals, casual raiders, and M+ players as they can get access to some very strong trinket options by only doing LFR content. While the mythic versions are not accessible for these players, it is also not available for 95% of the playerbase either, and the gain you’d get from them are miniscule if you look at upgrading from heroic to mythic version.
What they could do is to make it so that if you buy a heroic track trinket from raid and then kill the respective boss on mythic then you can turn in the trinket in for the mythic track version. As currently the system encourages you to sit on the chips if they are progressing the boss that drops the trinket they want.
What you describe is not the problem with the chips, it is the problem with the m+ formula overall. It is sadly the cost Blizzard decided M+ players have to pay for the content being a heroic track loot pinata.
Tbh you are conflating raiders with players that do both m+ and raid.
If you compare raiders with m+ players, raiders that do not do m+ get ALOT less gear.
It’s unfair to everyone who isn’t a CE raider IMO. Not just M+ players.
The way theyve done it this season is so weird. especially considering a squish is basically confirmed for midnight anyway, theres no reason to needlessly restrict us. tho stupid mechanics is on par for tww
Not even. The chips have been a massive flop. In reality, the only people truly benefiting from this are alts. Who can now get 3 BiS pieces by doing LFR as you say.
When the chips were rolled in, I found ZERO use for them. I already had everything I needed. Including the stuff that drops in the heroic raid.
CE raiders dont need that gear. Because all the BiS items drop from the late bosses. So if your guild can kill Gallywax Mythic already, a couple of items wont make a huge difference.
Blizzard forgot what gear is for. Gear is supposed to be a soft “nerf” of content. So if you cant kill X boss now, with more gear and ilvl you might. That’s its purpose: to provide a sensation of progress.
But what the cartel chips do is gate those items behind bosses you already killed. In particular, the last 2 bosses. So they are useless even for CE raiders.
Oh they did not forget about it. It prob has mostly to do with player retention. When did we see a spike in activity? Right on, right when this was introduced. They know very well what they’re doing, because we tell them (in statistics) what we think we want.
In M+ atleast I did not notice anything unusual. However, the extra 9 ilvls did increase activity. Because more gear == more progress.
Not only did a lot of people participate in the crest farming. But people doing keys +12 and above also saw a spike.
If people were only interested in ilvl as a reward, the spike at 12+ keys and above would not have happened.
Que? You still need all-12s for the Mythic variant of the vendor items.
Correct. But not +13. Or +14. Or +15.
For alts, and for off-specs. For me who plays all three of my specs the chips were a godsend as without it I have 0 chance of getting my hands on specific pieces (healer trinket from sprocket for example). That specific trinket alone is something only one of our healers had as it refused to drop.
Them being able to buy it on heroic tier also meant that there was a chance of me getting it, but my guild still has around 3 off-spec healers beside me, so the chance for getting it is also really small.
Same with mythic trinkets. Thanks to it I manage to get myself a really good passive trinket (pacemaker) on mythic, which I’d have to rely on getting by winning the lottery in the vault.
You also have the Jastor there, which even on heroic ilvl beats a lot of other rings even on mythic ilvl.
It is actually funny you say you did not need anything from the raid, when my raid’s healing roster still needed Mr pick me up and most still needed the Jastor (which only dropped like 2-3 times total in our reclears). It means you lucked out with your drops. We still to this day only seen a single first weapon drop from Mugzee, and that drop had to be considered for atleast 5 from our raid (monks, shamans and demon hunters). The chips helped with atleast the Jastor and the trinkets, so I consider that a win still.
And they aren’t useless for CE raiders, as with it they can get pieces that will be useful for them for the next season’s raid (since not many will be getting these Blizzard cannot necessarily tune raids around raiders having the mythic version). They will definitely tune it around the heroic version of them as everyone should have it, with the exception of those who did not raid at all in S2.
Little to late they should have fixed this day 1 and the fact they did not proofs they just want everyone to be forced to play raids.
You just gave a list of BiS items. But you forgot a major detail:
Why do you want them?
In other words. You literally told me how your guild has been farming heroic raid for months with out some items dropping more than once.
Got it.
But why do you need that item if you got the raid on farm already? To farm the raid 3 times faster? What’s the point?
And its even more stupid for mythic raid. You have to kill the boss to buy the trinket. But most of those trinkets drop from Gallywax and Mugzee. If you can kill those bosses with out the trinkets, then you can kill them with the trinkets. So the gear they drop looses any purpose.
To progress mythic, because in the end you get gear to continue the gear progression.
Same as people collect gear for M+, to go and do higher key levels.
But you do know that, it is why you also collect gear as well.
Right.
So you want to buy Jester Diamond in Mythic. To do so. You need to kill Gallywax in Mythic… So you can progress the Mythic Raid…
Got it.
Silly system they are forcing.
They know that the vast majority of players do not willingly enter mythic raid anything as this is way above their heads and skill level. They also know that the vast majority of players do not do mythic raiding, ever. I am one of them. I will do HC but mythic has always been a no go for me.
Yet they attempt to nudge people into this by dangling a carrot that is hidden by oppressive and depressing RNG.
I dont fall for it. I did LFR and got some raid trinkets at hero which i will max out and be happy with.
You ignore the fact that mythic+ dungeons have their own alternative options that aren’t available vs raid options that are available, this topic is not about wanting jester diamond at all stop making it so.
One thing I hated most about this iteration is that they only let us buy trinkets with it. I ended up getting trinkets from my vault too, which completely screwed me over and basically cost me two weeks of rewards.
Meanwhile, my friend, who started playing just four weeks ago,has already caught up to my gear level, even though I’ve been playing since day one of the patch.
It’s a terrible system that actually discourages players from gearing up early in the season.
Right. Give me an equivalent M+ ring that is better than any ring in the raid.
As in: If you happen to be a class that stacks Mastery, give me an equivalent ring in M+ that is itemized 85% mastery 15% something else.
As for trinkets. Funny that you mention it because for most classes (with very rare exceptions) the heroic version of the raid trinkets (gated on the last 3 bosses) is better, or equal to, or more convenient than the mythic version of the M+ trinkets.
As for the M+ items that ARE a clear upgrade vs. the raid items (like the staff from Mechagon) is curiously unavailable to buy.
