PVE players have better PVP gear than PVP players now

Well, it’s finally done…

In MoP we complained about pve players having an advantage in open world pvp but we could still stomp them in arenas because their gear scaled down.

Now pve players have better gear for every aspect in the game, even rated arenas because they can just spam mythic uldir and get one 385+ piece after another while pvp players can only get that once per week and it is a random item that could be completely useless (In raids you just trade it to another guild mate if it’s useless for you).

I personally think this is the worst state of pvp gear it has ever been, having to play pve to get an advantage over pvp players in their own territory (arenas, battlegrounds, worldpvp etc.)

The only content I want to play in this game is pvp, I wouldn’t even do any weekly m+ or similar if it wasn’t for the items, why not just give us back pvp vendors or something that makes skill matter more than gear again in pvp?

On arenas the ilvl gets scaled so it doesn’t really matter. Pvp gear has better azerite traits.

Not sure where you heard that but it’s not true and pve traits are often better

Gear matters a lot due to azerite traits and better secondary stat distribution. I don’t know what makes you think PvP gear has better traits either since a lot of specs get their BiS traits from the weekly M+ chest.

Do the emissaries that reward 370, one mythic +7-10 a week and play arena and you’ll be more than fine.

I won’t be fine because pve players still have an advantage in pvp which doesn’t make sense to me or anyone

That’s what Ion said.
However its possibly what they intended, not what they got.
They’re so out of touch that they don’t understand what will or will not be good in PvP, they have some slight understanding, but it eventually usually shows that it’s completely delusional.

Same goes with PvP Azerite Gear. There might be some good PvP Azerite gears, but most ppl use PvE ones.

actually, no it doesn’t. Not entirely at least

In fact the scaling currently is so broken, that occassionally you are better off equiping the one and the other low-tier item, because you are being scaled better. Was also the reason why greens were forbidden at blizzcon

Why do you even open such a thread, if you don’t even know, that scaling is in place? The only thing in pvp right now that really matters, are azerite traits. If you are low geared, your dmg against better geared players will be sclaed up, and their dmg on you is being scaled down.

You wanna know a time when pve gear was really superior to pvp gear? Wrath of the Lich king. Melee Arp trinket from icc, lolmourne, set bonuses (rip)

I don’t think you have an idea how scaling works… 386 with BiS stats and pve traits is way better than 380 pvp with random stats and pvp traits.

You know I got a 385 pvp azerite piece yesterday from the pvp chest and not a SINGLE row was any useful for pvp

The only concern about pvp gearing is lack of essential Azerite traits which are very rare on pvp armor. For example to play with my long time warlock partner at competitive level this season we had to farm mythic dungeons for him to stack three levels of drain life trait. Once we gained them we were able to get to our legion 2300+ mmr in 2v2 and 3v3.

Can’t agree with that.
I think in terms of ilevel PvP and PvE are more or less matched. Its done quite well and in a comfortable place for players.
In my opinion vendors would still be better but I don’t think that will be coming back until (at least) halfway-to-end of the expac.

This so much! I have gotten better PvP traits from WQ items…

I get the idea of “the more you play different aspects of the game the more you are rewarded” but it’s easily frustrating (add other ruder expletive) when Azerite gear will often have the most ‘wtf-esque’ traits for an item “forged” for PvP.

Agreed gearing now made me uninstall once and now I want to do it again. Its just painful, I’d settle for the wod system where it pumps up when you start fighting other players.

PvP should just be about the fight at the time. Wod had it right for me I didnt play legion…

The Azerite system is pure garbage. Let me pray to RNJesus for good traits but I get Seething Rage or some useless crap while the enemy got lucky and has 2 Revolving and 1 BP. My M+ chest gives me 380 boots ( got 390 ) while lucky bastards are getting Mythic-Uldir level gear with good traits.

Absolute garbage.

It’s much easier to get 370+ gear from pve than pvp. M+ and heroic raids is the way to go for those ilvls. Raid might be out of question for many, unless you are willing to suffer the pugs, but m+ however is a different matter.

PvP has the aspirant badge going for it, other than that I can’t remember what other gear slots one can get from pvp that is far better. Can’t recall if any of the azerite pieces give battlefield focus, but it doesn’t matter since honourbound faction gives the same and is easier to require.

To all the guys that say bad things about bfa , think again . Been suspended becouse I said that bfa is really bad .

sorry but the amount of bs in your post are too much for my eyes.

  • scaling is trash even with top dogs green with sockets, even xot used it briefly then switched to full gear once obtained all his desired traits.

-wrath wasnt the last exp pack where pve items were obnoxious in pvp.

-gear matters a lot in pvp, triple traits scaling is absurdly op on certain classes, want some example?

shaman triple wolf/riptide trait
azerite fortification triple trait
fury warrior triple auto attack trait
mw triple hot trait heal on damage
triple azerite veins
dh triple blade dance trait
pala triple mastery on wings trait

and roughly 60 to 80k more health and 2k ish main stat from a non geared player to a fully geared player, on the best scenarios.

pls, take your head out of the sand and say the truth, if u gear an alt, and go straight pvp ull know what i mean, its absolutely horrid.

Its dire, not to mention the lack of PvP vendors and the 10 pairs of boots I have…

Triple blade dance isn’t optimal.

Gearing through PvE is indeed much faster.

Maybe its just this toon that’s been very lucky so its skewed my perception.
Never got anything worthwhile from the weekly PvE chest, whereas all of the weekly PvP chests have given something useful (in terms of ilevel, azerite traits is hit-and-miss).
