PvP class for noob?

I’m enjoying PvP a lot but struggling to focus on one class to really start practicing.

I’m familiar with the systems but compared to you lot a total noob!

My choices were initially;

Frost Mage

Assassination Rogue

WW Monk

But my friend who plays a lot and (to me) damn good says I shouldn’t try these as they’ll be too hard. Now obviously it’s just his opinion but are they really?

He recommended Ret or Fury or even DH - but I don’t like DH at all.

I’m totally fine with putting the hours in, I’m an apex player and long time league player so grinding and learning is something I don’t mind even if I am getting a bit slower lol!

Hey,

Assa Rogue should be fine ish for a start, its very offensive, but you are squishy

personally, I would recommend Hunter for PVP MM or BM some of the most basic specs and forgiving ones.

For Casters Frost is easier compared to others but would go for Ele Shammy, until you get the hang of things then switch to what you like

DH is also easier to play but the fantasy like you is not something I like.

Most important go for whatever you enjoy and with the grind and some guides you will 100% get better and better:D

I was debating Hunter, it seems fun to play, I guess I’m just stuck with the mindset of rogue/mage because it’s what I typically go for in RPGs haha.

Is WW monk super difficult?

Also between Frost Mage and Assassination rogue which would you say has a bit more ‘give’ in terms of mistakes?

Rogue or Mage are some of the most fun specs game ingame

no other class can reset fights as easy as a rogue can or choose when to fight, you have so many tools at your disposal,

Similar tone to, Frost Mage.

Can t give an opinion on WW as I do not play it.

As far as Hunter goes, except Survival, the rest feel and play braindead
MM is almost as braindead as Furry Warrior, the only edge in actual gameplay may be the laying of traps and positioning, overall MM is very boring to me and as basic as a few buttons go :)).

i dunno about that, pet control, trap control, positioning, trading… its not as brain dead as fury

i mean if you want to stand still hard casting aimed shot , your not gonna get very far in rated.

Fistweaver maybe a healer that have a simple rotation and very strong heal with just punshing people
People say it feelslike playing WW with a simple rotation and super strong passive offheal
Play 2s with a DH and facerroll too victory

in general id recommend to play what u like. but be aware that both mage and rogue can be frustrating as a beginner since u rely more on controlling the opponents to really shine and that can be hard to pull off if ur inexperienced.

but ye if thats the case just play what u like and watch some streamer of that class. i dont know many mage streamers tbf but hansol should be a solid watch. arcane is currently the strongest but also hardest mage specc. he said he will release a guide for that soon on youtube.

Amazing choice to start and play your 2s, learning your mechanics. I don’t think it’s really hard and you can achieve very decent ratings when you’ll understand the basics. Pretty chill spec to play also imo.

Highly recommend.

There has never been a season in the history of the game where Arms (or Fury) Warrior or Warlock (any spec) has been bad. They’re also both way easier than rogue for example. If you’re new to PvP I recommend playing Arms warrior or Warlock (probably destro)

Arms is rarely S+ tier and rarely carrys everything, but it is virtually never bottom tier or unplayable. It oscillates between B+ and A+.

Warlock is much the same, but because it has 3 DPS specs, there is an extremely high chance one of them will be S+ tier, and all 3 are easy to play. So its as simple as just checking which is the current OP one and swapping to that. Right now Destro is OP for instance, last season Demo was, too. Every now and then Affliction is OP as well.

So yeah , Warrior or Warlock imo.

Out of the ones you listed, wwmonk is very safe and strong rn

Frost mage is the hardest of the three you listed. For arena especially, you must be experienced to make it work.

Assa rogue is the most balanced rogue spec, also the easiest. It is good to learn PVP fundamentals and get better at the game.

WW monk is currently the strongest of the three due to very high burst and good defensives. In the past, it used to die in stuns. However today this is no longer the case. Health was increased by 10% for everybody, crits are 150% instead of 200% etc. a plethora of changes that reduced this problem.

In the end, all 3 are good and fun, so make your pick and enjoy!

GL!

Not a great suggestion. Their defensive abilities are weak and kiting is hardly excisting these days with all the gap closer and ranged abilities melee have.

DH or Fury warrior will be a better pick since you don’t really have to think.

Yeah that doesn’t sound super appealing though, I’d rather develop a tougher class and earn my way if that makes sense?

Nothing is super difficult to play in this game, but there are definitely easier specs.

If you like the class fantasy of WW you can give it a try, it is not in a bad spot. But the reason why it might be harder than others is because everything is based around cooldowns. Damage, survivability, mobility and support comes from cooldowns which means you can mess it up quite easily, if you use them wrong.

Frost mage is efficient versus melees because it has the best kite potential, but harder versus wizards and it is the same here. If you mess up your damage cooldowns like bomb+glacial+ray combo, than nothing will die! It is also a wizard which is usually harder to play than melees for beginner, as it can be stressful when 2 melees pressure you consistently.

Assa is probably the easiest one of the three you named, at least in my opinion, but I don’t think it is a good beginner class. If you really want one of those 3, pick WW. I know this sounds a bit paradoxical after what I wrote before, but there is a difference between easy and beginner friendly.

If you are open to anything, don’t pick one of these 3 and get a BM, Fury, DH or something like this.

Im not expert at all in pvp, but i think arms warrior isnt hard at least at low ratings. My main is holy priest much less stress than on priest healer and you are not like 1/3 game under some kind of CC. At low ratings just tunnel someone

I prefer sv hunter and ww monk, which are not the easiest but feel rewarding when you win. WW does have high damage and defence this season, so it is a safer pick. Ret paladins are doing well too and beginner friendly.

Appreciate this info.

Hunter seems like an even ground if I wanted to go the mage route as it gives me the ranged/kiting experience to practice at least some what with freezing trap and concussive shot I guess? Plus I have the ability to ramp it up and go MM or SV.

I’ve been trialling rogue and Assass is fun but honestly Outlaw actually really took me by surprise and I love it haha!

I’ve given most classes a go and tbh it helped but almost made it tougher!
I really enjoyed SPriest, Rogue, DK and Monk - I’ve also really enjoyed the ability to swap to healer on Monk !

This is just BG’s mind you, which I understand is totally different to 2’s and 3’s but didn’t wanna drag anyone down

Personally i dont think theres any spec that would be mechanically hard. You can play whatever you want. Usually when someone says something is hard or easy it means theyre weak/strong balance wise. For example Frost dk is pretty easy to play however Its not s tier so you dont see many people playing it and everyone would Believe youre Beethoven of wow if you play it while its not true really. Now if you pick dh which is imo as dificult as Fury or Frost dk people would call you noob. Overall if you have will to learn and grind you can play whatever you want as the hard thing about this game are not class mechanics but positioning, cd usage, knowing whats the best target for you, seeing kill windows and playing around enemy cds.
