PVP damage is very very high again!

Global pvp damage and healing reduction needs to be reduced by %50 again !
%30 is not enough in lv 60 , pvp damages are out of control !

just nerf the pvp healing by 25% and nerf the blatant offenders which break PvP. Hunters and Ele/Restoshamans first and foremost.

Not sure why are they even waiting for this, its season of discovery , lets discover how game looks like with 50% reduction in pvp dmg and pvp healing

they can always revert it back if it turns out bad.

The thing is, putting a flat reduction damage/healing isn’t fair for all classes. Take mages by exemple, they already struggle with mana. If you reduce their damage they’ll be back to being oom before killing anyone.
Now that we are max level and runes are here to stay the devs should start balancing the game for real. Even if it means introducing PvP coefficient to spells to tweak the damage of some abilities that are too lethal without impacting the PvE performance.

Literally any PvP game is better than WoW PvP
Even DotA and CS:GO are better, and that speaks volumes. As for MMO RPGs in particular, they are not exactly predistposed to having good PvP due to their nature of RPGs being (cooperative) PvE in general

If we wanted to play FPS, Fighting Games we have an array of options to go and play. But he specifically wanted an MMO that has better balanced PvP than WoW and isn’t some trash tier game for 90% of the other content. Believe me i’ve tried every single other mmo there is out there to offer. And absolutely NONE of them have pvp that is as fluid and seamless as what WoW is. Even if WoW PvP is bad. It is still better than 99% of every other MMO out there. BDO has good PvP and then is trash asian MMO for every other aspect…

People aren’t gonna like this take. But retail PvP for the most part is actually balanced. (especially when compared to this clown fiesta that is SoD) To be able to take the same tech that separates PvP and PvE scaling for runes and abilities isn’t something that is a far stretch. It just requires more dev time than I think they have to be able to actually fix the problem.

But to say MMO’s cannot have good pvp due it being an RPG is an extremely fried take.

I understand that both You and Korikasai do not play this game to pvp. But some of us want more from the game than just hitting the same scripted fights for the past 20 years. And for a lot of us, that true end game repeatable content is PvP.

Agreed, remove the extra HP from WSG/AB/World PVP events so that things dont get weird.

And instead put it in a flat 50% all damage and healing reduction in PVP.

Result is:

  1. the pace, except for AV and world PVP stays the roughly same.
  2. Physical DPS gets nerfed. Very much needed, because they still have only 20% dmg reduction.
  3. PVP is consistent everywhere.
  4. PVP will have sorta the right pace, because compared to classic, our damage numbers are roughly 200% or more.

As a note:
An SL warlock with:
5k HP
30% Soul link
10% physical damage reduction
~11% armor reduction

Should not die from 100% in a rogue stun-lock.

The numbers are extreme.

Healing is already nerfed and ridiculously less op than everything else in this game… You literally screw yourself by playing a healer class in sod… Why the f would you want it nerfed more you clown.

RPG by definition focuses on building an immersive detailed world and making the player feel like an integral part of it. It is the main focus of the genre and competitive gaming simply does not stack too well with it, that is why most RPGs are single-player or cooperative PvE.

Another defining feature of an RPG is a progression system. You always progress and obtain new gear etc. The main determining factor of your power and success is your effort put into the character and your gear. This blatantly contradicts the main principle of a good PvP game where skill determines everything and the opponents should always have equal power / conditions at the start of a match / encounter.

So yeah in theory you can have more or less decent PvP in an RPG but it requires to shift focus and resources towards it and it will never be remotely as good as an actual PvP game, not to mention that it is clearly not an important feature of the genre. That is why we said it is not reasonable to play / accentuate PvP in an RPG. PvP is a diversity activity here, always has been, always will be. Do not play RPGs for PvP, it’s as silly as playing CS:GO for PvE missions

Hunter damage is out of control, the rest is fine

Because people want to enjoy their lone hero fantasies in peace and solitude. Having to play and coordinate with another human being to achieve goals is not as simple as entering a queue by yourself.

Also having to deal with a healer is annoying… you can’t just go from target to target and press your biggest damaging abilities repeatedly until everything is dead. You have to deal with a healer, CC, interrupt… too much work…

Already it is not worth going as a healer instead of a dps. People die by the time I finish a 1.8 second heal from 100% hp. If I go mongo dps spec at least I can contribute and wreck someone myself instead of standing there watching people die mid-cast.

And people want to increase the healing reduction further… they just don’t care and don’t want this role to exist in pvp, but they sure do like getting healed…

By this logic, everyone who has better gear than me should automatically win any PvP encounter they have with me because of the nature of “Progressing their character” when that simply isn’t the case. I don’t have to be in equal gear as my opponent to win. I can outplay that person when the game actually has some sense of balance to it.

Say that to the people that have been stuck playing arena in this game since its creation lol, Skill over gear every day of the week. Does gear help sure, but if its in the hands of an ape player it will make 0 difference. The only reason it matters in SoD is because the scaling on some abilities are just flat out retarded in terms of damage in PvP. Gear just inflates this, Lava burst go brrrt, starfire go brrrrt, explosive trap and chimera shot go brrrrt. Spriest 2 dots deleting 3/4 of your HP bar for the past 2 phases. Rogue 30 energy backstab??? (Blizzard dafuq)

The bottom of the barrel players that back pedal, have terrible control of their character, no situational awareness and use 0 utility suddenly become good at the game because their class can basically 100-0 people from max range or in an opener is why people are frustrated. It isn’t because PvP in WoW is bad. Its because the room to outplay literal monkeys has been reduced to less than 5 seconds of actual game play.

What you describe as an RPG misses the big MMO part before it. Your singleplayer catered experience should 100% be dictated around that formula. But when you have other REAL players you can 100% play it with pvp in mind, player skill varies without some arbitrary gear number attached to it in the first place. A good player that understands pvp fundamentals will walk over someone in PvE gear that doesn’t. This in itself allows diversity from the bottom to the top end. Game knowledge is vastly superior to gear.

I don’t play single player RPGS with PvP in mind. But if im playing an MMORPG one of the main selling points to keep me playing the game is does the game have PvP and is it actually fun. It is okay for you not to like it. But A LOT of us do enjoy wow pvp. We aren’t expecting perfect balance just not a hot steaming pile of :poop: shoved in our face for the past 3 phases. FF14 is the other mmo with comparable PvE but the pvp is straight trash.

WoW is the only MMORPG that actually does both in a pretty good fashion. Even when wow pvp is bad, its better than any other tab target mmo by a long shot.

No, SOME classes need to be reduced. A blanket, global dmg reduction just hurts classes that have no instant dmg and go OOM like Mage.
