Returning player, needing help, Noob question… should we be uprgading the current pvp green gear? I was told by another not to but his response as to why i shouldnt wasnt very clear… any help? cheers

Idk, im just lvl 71, but just do the basic.
Buy the gear the npc sells and upgrade it.
Simple.
Yeh the level 80 honor gear is green and i’ve been upgrading it slowly but was told to stop lol?

You only upgrade the pve item level. The pvp item level will always be 626, no matter how much you upgrade it. Gl

ahh ok that makes more sense… but then surely the extra stat increase carries over and its worth it?

Theres no extra stats that gets carried over to PvP even if you upgrade the PvE part of it.
The honor gear will always be 626 in PvP combat, no upgrade will change that.
Only thing that would increase your PvP ilvl would be getting conquest gear that will be released when S1 starts.
So even if you upgrade the item to 8/8 on your PvP item it will not increase your actual PvP combat ilvl.
It only increases your PvE ilvl.

The item upgrade is for the PvE base item level. It has no effect inside PvP, because it already has a preset item level.

In that case they should of increased the honor cost of gear… not particularly hard to gain the full set!
If you are not going to do any pve content but still want to do world quests and such then you can upgrade it.
But if you just going to que for bgs and arenas then don’t.

I wouldnt bother. For pve get pve gear and upgrade that. pvp gear is not even suited for pve.
