PvP gearing

PvE players are getting way better gear while getting rating in arena is 10 times harder than doing high mythic+ keys. Please change the system so it’s more fair for everyone.

1200 - 207
1400 - 213
1600 - 220
2100 - 226

Think this would be a lot more fair.

It won’t change a thing though. As you get closer to the next bracket you will start facing people with around 7 ilvl higher than you because of upgrades. I sincerely believe the difference between 213 ilvl and 220 ilvl is huge.

Occasionally we face few 225+ guys who actually hit like a truck as if we are 180 ilvl where my team has ~214 average. The gap is insane

Funny. PvE people are saying the same thing just the other way around.

But the gearing is indeed aids. If you ding with a new character right now it will take forever to gear up if you don’t get gear from m+. You face people with 205 ilvl on 1400 and they will just smash you when you enter with like 150 ilvl. The original intent was that you can enter arena and get gear with conquest catch-up but as of now this is absolutely impossible because you need to actually win games in order to get said points. You HAVE TO get gear from m+ or you will spend ages until you can actually start pushing some rating.

first i thought pvp gearing in SL is nice and all but now after trying to gear an alt i have to say its utter trash.

the games on 1,7 cr are harder than on my main whos playing around 2,4 cr. i cant seem to break the 1.8 because everyone is running around with 40k+ hp and i keep geting declined because of “bad gear” so i play with others that have equal bad gear and we just keep getting rolled

edit: my monk just got oneshot by 42k divine toll by backpedling ret (he had 42k hp unbuffed ofc)- this is just insane

Wasn’t the intent to first gear up via getting and upgrading the honor gear before doing rated PvP? After all, unranked conquest gear is on the same ilvl as normal Castle Nathria gear.

I do agree that it’s a bad system though. The gear difference makes it awful to gear up through rated PvP at the moment.

Maybe but for this to be of value you need to do the entire campagn first to catch-up with renown and then you need to farm a horrendous amount of honor to buy and upgrade the gear. Prolly around 50k at least to get all the pieces to 184 after buying them. Takes ages if you do it with bgs.

what ???

You don’t even lose rating until 1400,so idk why there should be free 207 items at 1200.

How about mythic 10 runs? They award 200 ilvl gear, and most pugs gathered on lfg fail mythic 10.

Only weekly reward from mythic 10 is somewhat good.

Other than that, its much better to play pvp to get gear than mythic +

You get 213 ilvl gear for 1600 rating.

You don’t even get that kind of ilvl on mythic 15.Max you get is lvl 210.

Yes you do. Saw enough people here complaining they can’t get the mount because they can’t keep 1400.

Let’s be real. PvE gearing is really horrible right now. Even raiding isn’t worth it with the amount of items that dropp per boss and their pathetic ilvl.

That’s just simply not true. You do lose rating. The median rating right now is under 1400. So if you have 1400 rating you are better than 50%+ then the pvp players and you still get 207 gear. While it’s quite easy getting like 210 gear in PvE.

Edit: that’s what I meant. I did some mythic+ without even knowing boss mechanics and I sucked badly but still got a 210 weapon as my weekly reward.

pvp gearing is way better than pve gearing atm. the reason you’re facing geared pve players at low rating in arena is because they’re doing arena to gear up because pvp is easily the most efficient way to gear. basically the only source for gear in pve atm is the vault. m+ drops crap and raid bosses drop barely any loot.

i’m 6/10m and in pvp i wear 1 mythic item and 12 pvp items. in pve i wear 9 pvp items.

btw, i’ve found that the worst time to queue if you wanna dodge geared pve players is around midnight on raid days (sun-thu). that’s when huge amounts of raiders queue. normally guilds raid 8-11 or so, and after the raid some of the people who would’ve done a key now do arenas instead.

Indeed. And upgrading the conquest pieces themselves takes a lot of honor as well. Its definitely a rough system for sure.

gearing depending on rating is terrible design as it makes the gap between good and bad players much much worse.
Which then creates more frustration, people leave the game, pvp dying etc. etc.

I think the “PvE vs. PvP” gearring isn’t really true, though this isn’t unrelated.

In my opinion, the lack of gearring in PvE attract too many players in PvP and therefore there are many many people in low CR in PvP with an incredible ilvl, which imo has now become a gatekeeping problem for new players willing to go into PvP.
We see people asking 200 ilvl + 2.1k experience for a low CR group, just the same way than people ask for ultra-gearring in a Mythic+5.

People are just farming gear in RBG to go into arena with a gear that should get them to 2k+, but you find them at 1400.

I speak as I’ve been playing my priest new into Shadowlands for a month exactly. I’ve managed to do the leveling, questing, and then only PvP. I’m at 199,44 ilvl and I can’t handle 1300 CR in 3v3 while my adversaries are 210+ ilvl.

To OP, I think your description is accurate in term of “which ilvl do we currently meet at each rating”.

I believe PvE players farming gear, and buying boosts, is a problem because of ilvl being tied to rating, and the scarce gear drops in pve. Changing at least one of them would reduce this a bit.

I preferred the system of rating just making it faster to gear up, not giving different ilvl’s.

Imo they should remove rating requirements for gear but make cap increase with rating like in old expansions - gearing solved.

Nice try but no.
He couldn’t oneshot you with 42K divine toll, you should look one more time at your screenshot.

At best divine toll can cast 3 judgments on an enemy target.
If I take a look at your screen his max crit is 8453 dmg and if I multiply it by 3 it gives 25359 dmg.

Now I look one more time at your screen and I see Divine Toll ----> 7 Hits on the upper right corner.
So he didn’t oneshot you with a 42K dmg with Divine Toll.

Q.E.D.

Have a nice day.

Doesn’t work without a specific PvP stat though. Do you really think they are gonna hand out Mythic raidlevel gear that is usable in PvE without any rating requirement?
