I’m afraid that is the case. You’ll just have to quit the game RIP.

blizzard fun

This is why i chose to stay on a full server.
This game attracts far more pve’ers it seems, so not many pvp players around. Cant remember it beeing this bad in OG wotlk, but maybe i remember differently.

I cant choose to play on a full server because blizzard forbidden me to actually play the game and create a character

I don’t understand, you are posting with a character on Earthshaker.

PvP with one of these guys?

Ladder is full of guys from Firemaw, but if you open lfg on it, there is pretty nobody for 3/5s and 5-7 guys looking war/pal in 2s in the evening. Looking like F for arena

3 guy which are not of my serverr that i can play with ? seem like an interesting arena season

you are posting from a character on Earthshaker yet your thread opens with

big server are locked and i dont haver character on them, how im supposed to play arena if i cant play with anybody

I just showed you there are pages and pages of people doing Arena on Earthshaker which you can clearly create toons on. IDK man maybe add more details so people can help you?

it wasnt as bad the problem is MMORPG PvP is a dying Genre entirely. when WoW first launched, the PvP Genres werent near as huge as today im afraid.

When Gear becomes Relevent in PvP its just toxic, PvP as a game mode as always been a based sport on Skill v Skill realistically and Gear disrupts that and creates a 3rd factor where a Skileld undergeared player will die to a Overgeared Terrible player.

so people designed New genres of games which capitalised that, while featuring the abilities and things that MMORPGS Sport, which has created a situation where the numbers of people who stick to a MMORPG For PvP is sloping downwards.

I will always play LoL, Guild wars 2, Overwatch for PvP before i touched it in WoW… Tab Target gaming for PvP is lame compared to the combat Systems of 2022. PvE Tab target, fine. the quantity of mechanics and more can make up for the lack of Active combat.

but PvP meh, nothing redeeming that im afraid.

Found that guy who cant find pvp vendors … you are comparing apples and submarines xD …

I didnt compare them.

For someone who said csnt find the vendors u dont read well urself.

My statement was pvp in mmorpgs are dying because newer genres dedicated to pvp simply do it better.

Theres no comparison, its a flat statement. The engagement with pvp systems in mmorpgs have continously fallen since like 2008 onwards thats just matter of fact. The single largest mmorpg by 10 fold (FFXIV) has almost no competitive pvp in it at all.

From the introduction of action based combat, the rise of MoBAs and success of games such as valorent and more, the reasons to pull up with the added baggage of mmorpgs and the grind fests just to participate has simply dwindled.

The pvp community. Dont like gear, the statistics have shown that realistically. The people who like gear are generally the ones who are winning the games by the default of outgearing. Or simply been in WoW for so long now, theyre on sunk time fallacy.

Im not sure i understand, you say the pvp genre is dying, and yet pvp werent as big as it is today?
When i played in OG lk, i had no problems finding team. Or atleast thats how i feel it, now everyone pve’s it seems. Wow has never been a pvp game, thats fine, it just feels off.

People said that for years on retail, then they introduced the stat template in Legion, and suddenly people liked the gearing after all. I personally like gearing, i just dont wanna spend months getting it.

I havent played GW2, but the other 2 are completely different from wow pvp.

This is a personal preference, i use both depending on the situation. Both tabbing and clicking have pro’s and cons.

Why is tabbing in pvp such a bad thing? And how would you fix it?

No im saying the pvp in mmorpgs are in decline due to new genres such as MoBAs and battle royales have grown massively.

Yes in wotlk it was bigger, but league of legends also launched during WoTLK. Which after time became one of the biggest games to play. The dropping didnt happen immediately. It shrunk over time.

As WoW became more and more pve orintated this helped the bleed get larger and larger at a much faster pace, which drove more and more of the pvp community to pvp focused games.

The poiny isnt pvp has always been dead, the point is pvp dedicated genres have become popular.

People seem to forget how few games existed competing against WoW during its classic - wotlk era. You forget there was very little else to realistically play. Pvp dedicated games were far less in abundence. And things such as mobas were cult followings back in the DoTA 1 days.

WoWs success was defintly helped by a lack of competition regardless of being pve or pvp, it aas the game to play, well like all good things, people jump on the bandwagon and we saw titles flying out.

The pve games simply never lifted off, while pvp did rocket.

Largely because of the f2p model rising when players demanded f2p and jt became a reality. Pvp games require far less content and simply balance adjusting regularly to excel. While pve games required continous floods of content.

So pve games closed down within years of their release or simply are dead but kept alive by a skeleton crew in bug riddled games with only trickles of content, while pvp thrived as lol proved.

A pvp player will play the same map for 2 decades if the gameplays good and the pvps good.

WoW as a title, as lost too many pvp players and wotlk classic was never going to bring alot of them back, while pve players still lack the new game which tears them from WoW.

Basically tldr:

Wotlk cannot stand up against todays pvp games. And no ones going to play it over things such as League of Legends.

Theres no game thats pulled pve players away.

So the community of today is 90% pvers because we are the only ones still stuck here

I remember back in the day when PvP guilds existed. As the player base dedicated to that content was massive and was far more popular then raiding at times, however its era died

I remember Hydra talking about this once on his stream. There was a petition from pvp players to create an arena server only where pve content would be disabled and the only important thing would be your pvp skill.

Blizz didn’t like the idea, hence why Arena Tournament private server was so popular few years back.

bs, tab targeting is the best lol, this new action rpg genre is just so crap

Well tbh, given the most popular pvp games arent tab target kinda shows the majority dont agree with your statement.

League of legends is birds eye view click to move.

And the battle royales are all active combat.

Closest combat systems the mmorpg genre has is likely guild wars 2. But it came out during f2p craze and burnt down like the rest of the mmorpgs that came oht during the time.

Funniest thing is it was players who screeched for f2p, and it killed the genre for over a decade lol

Ofcourse tab targetting and gear process grinds arent the only things that killed the games pvp. It being hybridized doesnt help.

When development is split, but both catagories share the same class design one side of the coin will always get burnt. Things that are good in pvp are terrible in pve and vice versa. So it only will go down so far before rhe game gravitates towards one over the other.

Most popular pvp games arent even mmorpg’s which I was directing that comment toward, you’re using different genres to compare pvp.

LoL is a MOBa and i’d still pick wow pvp over that cause instead of gear dif its champ dif and team dif which is horrible for solos, just imagine playing a pvp game pugging with 5 randoms, no coms and everyone has the iq of a special needs kid.

Battle royale genre kinda dying out.

I’d argue that wow has more players than gw and thats whats sad,Majority of GW 2 pvp is by bots and veterans.

this is true, wow devs mostly focus on pve over pvp hence why u see a lot more balancing for classes in pve (last i checked retail pve raid logs majority of classes were close to each other in dps)

Jindo is very healthy atm and balanced.

Im making 0 comparisons.

I didnt say which ones good and why. I said mmorpg pvp is dying. Flat statemsnt not a comparitive.

Yes. Given the fact i was statinf mmorpg pvp popularity is dying i stated plaxes such as mobas is where thise peolle have gone.

Gw2 is dead i was simply saying it has a good pvp systen, also bots have now gone.

At the end of the day:

I obviously agree with u on WoW combat being great otherwise i wouldnt be here, but the pvp audience moved genre, even if they didnt mind WoWs combat theyre still gone becsuse whats being offered on the other side is simply greater.

WoW retail could have done a better job at upholding the playerbase but it was inevitable. In every game that tries to do pvp and pve, one gets ruined.

WoW pvp got ruined.
Gw2 Pvp got ruined.
Tera pve got ruined.
Blade and soul pve got ruined.
Ffxiv pvp got pretty much almost deleted lol.

The list goes on, this aint saying its impossible. Its defintly possible to have both pvp and pve. But the game would require w development teams. 1 for pvp and 1 for pve, and pvp and pvenwould need seperation at foundations.

  • class designs in pvp and in pve need to be completely different.

  • abilitys need to change between the modes.

  • balancing needs completely altering.

I.e

Mage would have

Fire pve

Frost pve

Arcane pve

Fire pvp

Frost pvp

Arcane pvp.

And be split between 2 tabs of 3, pvp and pve, now ironically with dfs talents moving all abilities into the trees, this has never been more possible. And tbh it be worth the investment to what the game could reach.

But we both know blizz wont spend that much money or have a team that big.

Gaming companies, simply wont invest enough to make pvp and pve without major overlaps and problems throughout, so instead one side just gets messed up, this seems to of majorly kicked in when blizzard started trying to make the pvp speccs capable in pve.

Sub rogue, frost mage etc etc, pve players started saying one of their speccs being forever bad in pve isnt good enough and blizzard need to do better, so they reworked a ton of them and got them good in pve. However now theres no singular specc which they use to balance around pvp so theyve joint all the speccs pvp and pve balancing.
