Farmed WQs, dungeons, honorbound and mana pearls to get my gear to 400 ilvl. Enter a random BG. Immediately told to leave because of my low ilvl. End up third on the leaderboard for DPS despite it. Whispered to not PvP again with only 208k HP.
Seriously? If it was rated, then fair call. But we’re talking about random battlegrounds here. Am I supposed to farm Mythics and Raids before I can do unrated PvP?
But I get it, it’s not all their fault for telling me that. The difference between a 400 ilvl and 430+ is nuts. I’m out there fighting DPS with more health than the tanks I get stuck with in dungeons.
And someone with low health like mine will always be the target. I’m actually surprised I only suffered two deaths. The team should be thanking me for being bait while they were mining azerite and I’m getting sap spammed by 20 rogues circling me like vultures.

Some people are just turds, though I do see where they are coming from, there’s no reason for them to be horrible about it.
I feel that this is Blizzard’s fault, they backtracked too far from Legion templates. It used to be that everyone was scaled to a fixed template, with gear above the template’s minimum Ilvl only providing a small increase to your overall power.
So you could go into instanced PvP on a fresh 110 and be competitive, with the only real disadvantages being a lack of artifact traits and having to unlock PvP talents as you earned honor levels.
Whilst the templates did kind of suck as they offered little to no gear progression in PvP, this was the one thing they did right, having a minimum Ilvl that players are scaled up to.
Bring it back Blizz!
Bringing item level scaling or pvp resilience rating will bring balance to all people on random bgs.
Last night I was playing my NA wow account. First bg horde got 66k hp healer and 100k hp dps players. We farmed them hard.
Then next bg we had like 5 players with 101k hp. This time they farmed us. Random bgs are casual content. In my opinion there must be only skill difference and ilvl scaling. Or if u dont agree with that , bring pvp vendors and people can get gear items as long as they do bgs.
I see many who made 57 bg they are still 374 ilvl. At least pvp vendors can fix this problem. U can get 425 gear with pearls from nazjatar. Why not u cant get gear with pvp? Until legion we didnt have this problem. Then they removed pvp vendors. People started to grind pve because pvp rewards became cosmetic. No vendor to get 430 ilvl shoulder if u pvp now for example.
This actually sounds pretty decent. I’m kind of hoping they do what ESO did and completely wipe out item levels. Though in ESO they were called VR (Veteran Ranks). So now, every max level gear has the same value of stats. Obviously different bonuses depending on the gear, but the same number.
I wouldn’t say ESO has progression, but you can farm different sets which come with different bonuses and procs. If you’re low level, you can still PvP because you receive what’s called “Battle Levelling”, which amps your stats to that of a level 50. The biggest disadvantage is not having all of your passives and skills.
But with that kind of system, it’s so easy to jump into PvP, and it’s very alt friendly.
Yeah, it’d be really nice if they could do this right. I believe scaling works, and I’ve seen it work in other games. There’s just no competing with PvE gods in PvP right now, because they are essentially mini raid bosses. Sure, I could farm Mythics and raids for a while, but I shouldn’t really have to if I want to PvP. I’ve already levelled to 120 (without boost), I’ve completed the entire war campaign, I’ve farmed manapearls to upgrade my benthic gear, I’ve exhausted World Quests. How much PvE is enough?

You’ve got the absolutely insane amount of power creep on gear to thank for this. Difference between ilvl 410~ and ilvl 430 is about 100-150k HP and tons more primary and secondary stats. In terms of relative power that is like trying to fight a level 60 character at level 20. It’s night and day.
Combined with the availability of gear (all you really need is a few friends to boost you through m+) this leads to random bgs, by and large, being the stomping grounds of full mythic geared players punching down on people that have only just started gearing.
I have no wish for stat templates again but the insane stat difference in iLvls needs to be drastically reduced.
Yes I’m 438 ilvl 1.1 million hp with food and buffs.
I was 600k hp on 413 ilvl during 8.1 patch.
It’s very sad when battlegrounds drop 395 gear max while mythic+ drops 430+… extreme bias towards pve gear.
Even if you are skilled player and get high rating without gear you still can’t gear up in pvp because gear simply doesn’t drop, and when it does in most cases it has wrong stats or it’s the piece that you don’t need.
They need to bring back pvp vendors and increase its ilvl dramatically so that it’s in par with pve gear, or add some pvp stat that makes it more valuable in pvp than pve gear.
Jesus. When players target you, they probably see a gold dragon around your portrait and a skull instead of a level.

actually you can be 450+ ilvl enhancement shaman and get destroyed by any 400 ilvl class (especially rogue).
This translates to → Go do M+ and raids for gear, before setting your foot in random BG 
Then again, what DOESN’T destroy Enhancement these days.
I mean… If A DH farts in Orgrimmar, I fall over in Warsong Gulch

I lost with 9000k damage players in my team few hours ago. Only thing they did was killing horde all the time in middle and no taking orbs. 8 players were 0 victory points. So I agree.
Also you are from stormscale , matt is on that server too from mollys team. Dont know if you are on their team. They are nice.
BFA is very elitist lots more so compared to Legion. And yes your best bet is to farm mythics for pvp. People will blame you for defeat.
Im on same boat and until you get a decent level youll get a lot of declines even if you can play. Best is get a group of friends gear up then attempt to pvp…
Just continue to que OP. Its alright and don’t get triggered if someone makes a notion about your gear. Im with my current gear on top 5 dps most of the time in random BG’s. Funny that I put out thrice CC compared to most players too.
Just play how you like there is Conquest gear after every 500 pts cap. Just boycott PvE. After Legion they removed most of the templates and didn’t return PvP vendors and made it all rng rng PvE. And Ion said that IT IS ALL GOOD.
