PvP in SoD

Just wanted to ask what your opinion about PvP was like in SoD so far, pre phase 3. Would like to hear about which class you loved playing in PvP and which you detested in case you have multiple chars like I do.

For me it was not enjoyable unless I’ve played priest or warlock and most likely won’t be much for phase 3 either, main reason being that I’m a warrior “lover”.

Phase 1 had no interrupt as warrior, had no means to reduce the healing.
Phase 2 had no means to survive rogues that opened on me since I had to mainly wear leather and mail items to be “pre-raid bis” so I can farm the 2h axe from Gnomeregan. On top of that had issues against mages instant healing for 3 times the amount of damage I was dealing, had priests dodge like 3-4 attacks in PvP, had executes miss 4-5 times in row leaving me with no rage, had no rage because of absorbs against priests, had no means to reach players attacking from top of the walls at STV event and the list goes on.

I was able to “mitigate” some of the issues by going into alchemy so I could afford to pop a FaP potion for rogues, a rage potion for priests and so on, forcing me to go into alchemy so I don’t get broke over popping so many potions, however, that left me without a viable profession for crafting one of those epic helmets, belts, gloves that pretty much everyone could benefit from by playing other class. (Just like having blacksmithing on shaman is useless, since you can only craft plate)

And yes, I know I could have went and bought all the herbs off AH, but again, that would get me broke since farming with warrior is like hitting yourself in the … since you need to eat after pretty much every mob that’s same lvl as you, or sometimes even lower.

Now with phase3 I wonder how much worse it will get, I can tell for sure that the casters on top of walls in STV will remain there, now with every class getting more stamina gear it will be even more fun to manage the lack of rage, especially when you can get 3x dodges in a row on a priest (have 2x overpowers miss) and each time your execute is missing you end back to 0 rage.

I know it’s partly a QQ-ing topic, of me qq-ing about my frustration but I honestly would like to hear your opinion and would like to know about how much you’ve enjoyed pvp and by playing which class. I know lots of classes got a lot of instant damage openers without having the need to actually hit first to make it happen. Out of the 5 characters I’ve had at lvl 40 I could say for me personally priest was most enjoyable and warrior the least of all.

Its not good. There are 2 problems wich ruinined pvp, one is the dev team, who let single classes dominate whole seasons long, like enhnace and priesst did in p2. The other is the community itself. There are too many minmaxer reroller players, they dont play the class they want but the one wich is currently OP. THank to them we can play bgs with 5-6 priest and 4-5 shamans. Its everything but fun.
Better balance could solve this. I know balance was never perfect etc. but now some classes are really disapointing to play.
We will see how can this new pvp set help us, i dont think a little stamina will solve the problem.

Its a disaster. The balance gap is huge , you have classes that gotten modern like Balance druids shamans SP Mages hunters with a lot of instant casts heals ccs traps etc and other classes that left to 2007 hardcasting spells or having no way to survive and do half their dmg.

And the worst is the runes are not even get tested before launch… my sp has 180 sp my lock has 215 with runes etc unbuffed and now enhance shamans get a rune that give them 160ap +226 spell power i mean what the actual f*** .

Pretty much that.
Plus the xp boost combined with the “tactic” of making everything easy to the point of not having to worry about losing things after rerolling (biggest example the wsg rep from Ashen: 1st it started giving 1k and now the weekly q can be done daily) made pvp a pile of sh…

I agree, especially warrior rage generation is a joke. You miss, your hit gets absorbed, you parry …you finally get 20-40 rage and then first ability you get to use gets missed or parried and leaves you back to like 0 rage. All that while a mage insta burst you for 1k to 1.5k arcane dmg. #nobalance

Same thing was with rets in vanilaa. If i miss, dodge , parry u basicly deal 0 dmg

Yeah but at least for paladins you still got mana for other attacks once CD or GCD is over.

Warriors need rage normalization, similar to how energy restores for rogues. Otherwise, warriors will continue to struggle in PvP
They might be still op in pve for sure

The melee got shafted to be honest. Im playing on A pve server so the whole «1on1» exp almost doesnt exist.

To many dots and insta casts flying all over the place.

Second i open on someone i got 4-5 dots and best case scenario is i manage to kill the person I opened on. Im dead 100 % after 2-3 sec!

The lvl 5 trinket ruined rogue gameplay. These days its not Even worth using stuns on orcs and the racials have never been more obv then now.

Had A shadow priest dot me out of stealth

I Vanish/step stun do my rotation , priest trinkets dots me again pops dispersion.

I blind , wait for disp to dissapear kill the priest. 1200 hp left , sit down and eat. Dots kill me with eating :saluting_face: they ticked around 14-1500 hp after priest died.

Gonna be Even Worse with crits on dots

As a warrior main, just tested something in regular Arathi Basin:

I had 5,2k HP

Spriest put 2 dots on me : Void Plague and Shadow Word Pain.

Void Plague dmg - 2,2k
SW:Pain : 2,1k
In total 4,3k dmg only from DOTS, from distance which you cannot interrupt

WTF is that really, how is it balanced ??

I was just mentioning in another post that I got owned 1v1 at lvl 50 by a lvl 41 priest that put dots + Humuculi on me and started running. I was called unskilled for it for not being able to close the gap or mount in combat.

Use restorative potion, or a generic healing potion. Problem solved. Or y’know, kill him before the full dots have taken effect - and then eat food to get full hp back.

Oh right, kill them. That thought never crossed my mind.
Maybe with the new thrown from STV will be able to close the gaps, but short of that if they max range you while you die from dots + Homuculi they place from the top of a wall or other hard to reach areas = 0 you can do besides pop a potion and try to run away. I will actually need to look into the range difference required to apply the DoTs and the range required to charge in for no reason into a priest that will go into dispersion.

Not going to lie, I had fun placing dots on people and throwing them down in BRM lava with mind control. Few even decided to use PvP trinket to remove fear before the fun part. Whenever I play my priest I feel like everyone around me doesn’t know how to PvP so it must be them. Even in STV, all I have to do is find a slightly hard to reach place where I can stand and watch people die from the DoTs I’ve applied with my 2 buttons,

Brother, if the thought of using a speed pot never crossed your mind, then yes, you have a skill issue.

What version of game are you playing, in which the swiftness potion allows you to quickly climb walls or hit those that sit on walls, being out of range from your melee hits ?
