No expansion launch in history has been this dead before, and all Blizzard can think about is capping solo shuffle mmr at 2100 to force people to play the new great game mode.
In reality though, it seems like noone cares since shuffle still has more players than blitz despite rating being essentially capped at 2200.
Imagine how active arenas could be if ratings were uncapped like in blitz.
The self sabotage is crazy this expansion, if they don’t change anything about the shuffle mmr soon I’ll just quit again since Blizzard obviously doesn’t want to retain arena players.
I couldn’t care less about blitz, it’s literally a coinflip every match. Just let me play atleast one arena bracket.
SS killed arena. Essentially overspreading the player base over the best part of 5 different rated options. It’s bound to happen. Especially when most people choose the path of least resistance.
No, it didnt. You oversimplify the reason theres less 2v2 and 3v3.
You missed the part where elitism made the game to be a game of LinkedIn, where people would play at 1400 mmr and wouldnt take a 1.6 xp’d person to play at that same MMR they got experience covered and not only that but they would only play with above average players.
Thats what killed arenas.
Is players being spread around brackets part of the outcome ? absolutely.
But the core issue is - most of the people in the PvP community are not only unhelpful but deliberately selfish which ended up being a little destructive.
And when these 1.6 players saw they finally got the chance to play on higher rating without having to wait for hours, being talked down they have chosen to play shuffle instead.
From my side (2.4 xp’d shuffle, blitz , 2.2 xp’d 10v10 , 2,3 xp’d in 2v2 player) even though i never did bad at 2v2 and 3v3, soloshuffle saved a lot of headaches for me too.
Would I prefer to look for someone for hours actively just to end up with some elitist Andy whos gonna rage-quit the moment i made a single mistake or draw and paint while i wait for shuffle to pop?
Just look at top 5k players in each ladder and you d see the lowest rating is around 1.6k ish
If you ve doing pvp in each expansion you would know what that means.
No one plays the game anymore concurrent player statistic at all time lows the first time in Wow history after an expansion launched and players are coping with stupid designs, we too did that back with previous reworks like cata mop legion wod but at least that meant something. This current state has nothing to offer in competitive branch. Nada.
None of the games you mentioned have nothing to offer for WoW pvp players unless they already played those games.
WoW PvP was never played because of balance, but because of the gameplay and design. Specifically arena and bgs are smth a lot of people have an 'itch to scratch".
Also, from the games you mentioned even Legaue is on decline (and a far superior game dota, which I was passionate about is also declining). Only Fortnite is on the rise still because that is what modern sort of “gamers” want - jump in, jump out and instant gratification/adrenaline rush.
On topic, I dont feel pvp is dead at all. RSS q times have been around 5-8 minutes for me conssiatently, Blitz too. I see a lot of groups in LFG and WPvP is alive and kicking in zones with weekly spark quests. I had numerous 40 minutes mass skirmishes in open world in the past couplw of weeks.
It should only be WSG and twin peaks, its the only bg`s that you as a single person can controll whos winning, every other bgs than flag bgs are just gambling
i mean the thing about league of legends for example is, that this game is also old, and some wow players, played it here and there some years ago, and trying it again
i know many really good pvp players. what have quit wow pvp 1-4 wow years ago and playing league of legends or valorant instead
idk about that, sometimes it have bad seasons especially when it is a tank metax but most of the players are addicted and cant quit, and even when u compare the viewr count on skill capped videos , the interest is way more higher than in wow, and the que time is really fast there. close to be instant, depends on the elo
na, its the opposite, atleast it was the last 2 season like this, idk if the current season safed the game and people are coming back havent paid attention on twitch for 6 months now, while league is still the same
it is a subjective matter that everyone can interpret differently
many people compare it with wow 5-10 years ago, if u compare the current pvp situation with Legion, or wod, it is really dead, even shadowlands had a higher participation
it just went downhill in the last 2 seasons of Shadowlands, had a slight recover with df ssn1 and then it went again down, Tww Season 1 have the lowest participation when it comes to wow pvp compared to every other xpac
