PvP Participation

So I was thinking… we have a fair few modes right now, but all the queues are seemingly long.

So, what if we altered some of these for faster queues?

For example, here’s what I thought could be a possibility;

  • We keep 2v2 and 3v3 as they are
  • We keep Random BGs and Epic BGs, but reduce the team sizes to 8-12 for Random BGs and 30 for Epic BGs.
  • Solo Shuffle becomes a queue for 2v2 and 3v3, at random, like how skirmishes work. 2v2 would be dps only, still 6 rounds but you play with each dps twice, and 3v3 would be with healers as it is now. Additionally, rating for 2v2 and 3v3 would be separate, and you can choose what spec you want to play for each. E.g. a priest could choose Shadow for 2v2, and Disc for 3v3. A mage could choose fire for 2v2 and frost for 3v3, etc.
  • RBGs would also become a solo queue, replacing the current RBGs. And team sizes reduce to 8. With 1-2 healers on each team.
  • Brawls can remain the same
  • Arena Skirmish can remain the same

I think if you choose 2 on 2 dps, this is fine, but it shall be 3 rounds only. As you got perfect the 6 rounds would be for two of the same matchups each. However this does not seem needed, as the wait time would not be so long that the game needs to be long to be worth the investment.

I think it should be a “half-solo queue” system, where you can still queue for it with up to two friends.
That way, a group of 3 players can still queue together for this game mode.

6 rounds in a 2v2 would ensure the longer time playing, plus playingwith each dps twice would give noth players chance to rectify their potential mistakes from the 1 game they played together. So you could essentially get revenge. The 3v3 queue pretty mcuh works like this already, you just swap healers for your second game.

PvP participation problem is the lack of healers in particular in Solo.

And if I can serve as an example as why I dont PvP here is my point of view:

I used to PvP hard in S1. And I literally quit, and wont come back untill some changes are done.

A) Blizz took too long to balance the insane burst and crazy long CC chains. Either have burst with no CC, or CC with no burst. But not both. And if its impossible to balance out those things, then get rid of dampening because its not fun to play a nerfed out version of a healer…

None of the 3 issues got adressed. Alll 3 persist simultaniously at the moment. Granted its not as bad as in SL, but they are still there since time inmemorial.

B) Rating. In S1 solo shuffle the STUPID 3/3 match = 0 rating gain because 1 DD is either too OP, or, too bad (aka, NOT healer problems) is just dumb. In addition, if you happen to loose you loose 70 rating. And if you win you win like 5. Not very satisfying.

In S2, which the extreme defaltion of MMR it turns out im playing agains multi-glad people at 1800 rating. Thats also dumb. Im not a gladiator, and getting smashed by people orders of magnitude better than me is just not fun.

Because of that, I dont play pvp untill A and/or B are adressed. And like me there are many more healers. And that is why wait times for DD are stupid insane and people play pvp less and less.

And before you go ahead and suggest double DD as a mode, remember that it gives a massive unfair advantage to hibrids that can self heal. Just be aware of the consequences of what you ask.

Hmm, I think not a lot of people play 3v3 with LFG Groups at least.

RBG solo queue would be really cool though. I think solo shuffle should be changed into an alternative game mode. A 6v6 ranked “BG” like capture the flag, search and destroy, or something similar. 3v3 and 2v2 instead should just be queuable for solo players to increase the player pool. 3v3 is just not good in my opinion due to how targeting works and it just ends up in having a race car UI
