PvP Ranking System needs to be reworked ASAP!

Its ridiculous and boring that you are literally rewarded not to play until the end of the season, collect the rewards and peace it.
My solution to give people reason to play the whole season and pump as much games as they want is to make rewards based on percentage again.
For Example: Rank 1 = Top 1%(Title) / Gladiator = Top 5-10%(Mount/Title) / Duelist = Top 25%(Weapon Transmog&Enchant) Rival = Top 40% (Elite Transmog)
NO MMR CAP, NO MMR CATCHUP.
At some point add a safety net that you cant fall below once reached. For example 2000CR. So people who reached that can keep pumping without worrying to drop and it will increase participation even further and make it even harder for someone to catch up who starts at 0 at the end of the season.
If you dont play for 1-2weeks you lose mmr. This will make people que from start of the season until the end of season, making it really hard for people to just ignore the season until last 2 weeks, because they would fall behind to much.
Rewards will be given at the end of the season and titles will stay active for the next season. (R1 title is ofc 4ever as right now)
Game fixed bliz, read it, implement it GG

So basically, instead of aiming for certain rating like 1800 for the elite transmog for all specs, you want to lock it to a certain amount of people every season? x_X

What exactly is Elite about being literally just above average or even average compared to all other players. Basically a participation trophy. Also duelist = 1/4 of people? KEK.

Couldn’t agree more on the need for a PvP ranking system overhaul – it’s been a topic of discussion for years, and the current season feels particularly challenging. The player deflation and the Rank 1 situation lingering in the 1.8-2.1 rating range for weeks are definitely frustrating.

Just encountered another +11 after a 4/6 even MMR and CR match, while a 2/6 with the same balance results in a hefty -30. It’s disheartening, to say the least.

Here’s hoping Blizzard takes note and considers some revamps soon. Share your thoughts on how you’d like to see the system improved!

I hate the current PVP MMR/CR system.

It’s a disaster - every season you’re disincentivized to play for the first 2-3 months. In the meanwhile, in PVE people can kill mythic raids right away or do mythic dungeons without limitation.

Why don’t they make PVE harder for 3 months and then only “unlock” it for the end of the season?

Some devs at blizzard are super old school it seems and are stuck with the assumption that “some PVP players want to push at the end of the season so until then nothing matters so we might as well destroy MMR and make it impossible for the others to play too”

Yes, which is pretty much the same already.(prob even lower than 40% of people are 1.8+) Those numbers are all made up to give an example, it could be top 60%, thats not the point tho. In general the rewards should feel special to you and should be a seasonal progress, not a 1-2weeks grind when you got free mmr after waiting months.
Its also not even about the rewards, the main goal is to keep the season active from the start, make R1 and glad players push further early so the avg. player doesnt have to play blizzcon finals in 1.8 rating and everyone has a longterm goal and is rewarded for playing and pushing his rating the highst possible

I frankly dont care about how they do things with the rewards, but something clearly needs to change. Start of the season should be where the hype is the highest n the part of the game that sees the most participation, not the least. No other game what so ever release a new season that causes everyone to unsub n return when the season end draws near.

Almost all games has the steady decline after new content intill new content is released that draws the people back, thats how its supposed to be n WoW probaly has the worst rating system in any PvP game where somehow R1, blizzcon champions n multi glads sits in the 2k - 2.2k range, the fact that there are more R1´s than gladiators currently is comedic. Infact EU has 0 glads and NA has TWO.

I dont even care about any of the rewards on a personal level but blizzard continuing to murder off participation because some metric likely tells them it maximizes sub time is getting upsetting. After seeing the disaster that was season 2 i genuinely expected them to learn n never repeat it n yet here we are.

Wont really change much for people who want to get the elite set, rather it will just make ppl wait to climb if so or just not do it at all since they dont rly see any rewards in sight.

You could see the 1800 rating as a carrot for casuals to get. Remove that to end of season and youll have alot of casuals that will just not play.
Atleast its one of the dangers with that suggestion.

the casuals right now dont even play or get the 1800 rating late into the season anyways, or through RBG. Im talking from mostly Arena perspective I should have said.
We are almost 1 month into the season and there is not a single player at 2.4 rating in 3s.
It will simply motivate people to que at least few games a week imo and without a hard cap at the top, the ladder should spread out more.
A big change is needed, they should just risk something new even if not perfect from the get go.

Completely disagree. % based rating is exactly why you have this situation, because that’s likely how they calculate mmr.

In my opinion what they need to do is to stop resetting rating between seasons, and only reset it between expansions. For example first season you get elite mog at 1800, 2nd season at 3600 and so on. Every 200 Rating there should be rewards. The jump from 1800 to 2100 to 2400 is too high, and 2400 is rewarded too heavily compared to 2100. MMR inflation should not happen at all, but they need to shift more rewards from rating based to participation based. Also, they need to ditch their honor level system, because it’s trash and instead they need to introduce seasonal Honor battle passes.
