PvP Rating Adjustments

I do that as well.
I earn 1800 at multiple alts for set, then at the end of season 2400+ on some class to get other cosmetic rewards and upgraded sets.

But why should i play at the start of the season?
To possibly increase mmr cap that blizzard artificially added (“player activity influences it”) → I don’t feel it directly, that’s insane and definately not a motivating factor.

Because game is fun? Well is it? Without proper rating I don’t even know if I am doing good or not. When so many ppl are in similar rating brackets, because of poor rating distribution.
The higher the rating cap, the easier for me is to asses my results against other players. The game is not fun if I don’t see my results. It’s like kids playing football, but nobody is counting how many goals have been scored. Who would like that?

It’s very clear, that rating should have high ceiling, rewards should be earnable for a lot more ppl (than current 0). And people should try to aspire as high as they can get, without being all mostly stuck at same bracket, because of low rating mmr.

True and based and agreed

please add maps to solo shuffle im sick of the same map pool for 3 seasons

I’m not out of touch at all. People only want rewards, not many people care about progression as a player. This is evident through posts on forums, Reddit posts etc. It’s evident through the fact people only play for Elite sets, it’s evident through players such as myself who literally stop playing after Gladiator because there is no reason to continue unless you want to help your friends get their rewards.

if we use rated system which achievements are tied on set numbers then the seasons need stay consistent, simple as that. change the system or adjust the mmr faster if there is low participation. it needs to be consistent. the current system is god awful and outdated in any case, everyone sees how super inflated/deflated seasons affect it. its not consistent, the whole game is unbalanced enough already to be taken serious competitively so the least they could do is try keep the reward system somewhat consistent between seasons.

shouldnt need to be said that we have lifer challengers pushing duelist on dhs in first weeks in shuffles on tuning gone terrible, or do we need to point out how retocalypse or aug affected this rating system as whole. just keep the mmr system consistent if not able do anything else, its the least of low effort they can do.

Player activity should be the goal in the first place. It’s based on how a season is balanced and made. If people don’t want to play because they’re feeling unrewarded for their efforts, then changes are necessary.

Gear is not really a factor or a progression reward in PvP like it is in PvE. Maybe for a short time after a character is made or very start of seasons, but overall it isn’t.

Provide more rewards between the ranks themselves. Add more ranks between 2100 and 3000. These rewards can be transmogs, mounts, etc. Give the PvP boxes Awakened essences instead of Rousing ones, maybe 1 per box, so people can get some gold to keep their characters playable and for new ones.

People continue after earning rewards as well.
We saw that with season 1.
They possibly don’t play when they know that rewards are un-earnable.
But your assumption that making rewards easy leads to player quitting seems to be disproven by reality.

What reality is that? What statistics do you have to support your claim that making everything easy to get = continuous high levels of participation throughout the season? Since my assumption is ‘disproven by reality’, I look forward to seeing your sources.

Why are people not playing now? Because they can’t get their rewards. If they didn’t care about getting their rewards, surely they’d just be spam playing right now for the love of PvP, but they aren’t doing that…why? If they’re not doing it now, what reason and what proof do you have that leads you to believe that after they do get what they want, they would continue to play at a high frequency?

Can you please address the concern of the pvp prot pally community? Namely that we still don’t get the healer bonus in shuffle even though we count as a healer. It’s been a year now.

Try removing rewards from m+ as well and see if people keep “playing for fun”.

The fun thing is to achieve rewards that is true but as whisperer said if you make the rewards to challenging to achieve than you lose the people that keep this game running
Why do you think that there are no glads yet? It is not possible to get it, there are not enough people to feed the ladder rating and inflate it, also Blizzard screwing up with the artificial inflation and strange buffing and nerfing of classes, it is as if they are trying to ruin the game on purpose
You can not get high ratings if nobody is playing, the mid and low rated people are not there
S1 of dragonflight was perfection, same goes for the last season of SL, that was just a awesome time and we had lots of people playing because it actually was fun and the sets were very much obtainable for 90% of the wow community
Just let people get over +3k rating and we all good then

wow i first thought isnt 1 of the pains from naruto also named mahito?

+1 thats what im saying for months.

And i´d rather have people quit mid season because they got their rewards instead of people not even queing at all. I also highly doubt people instantly quit after getting glad. People didnt quit in SL S2 because they tried to achieve new maxratings.

Also if people quit after they got their 2400 this just means blizz failed to put any incentives to play after 2400. Its a reward problem then and can be easily fixed after.

This patch is alive? how game feels after? asking so i can jump back and play

And if you make them too easy to get what makes you think that you will maintain high levels of participation throughout the season? If people loved PvP so much, surely they would just spam play it regardless of whether the rewards are easy to get. The fact that they are not leads one to believe that all they’re interested in is the ease of earning rewards, and results in a logical opinion that after those rewards are obtained, there is barely any reason to play afterwards anywhere near as much or anywhere as seriously.

Playerbase problem. Play the game, feed the mmr and inflate the ladder.

In what way? Solo Shuffle was inflated beyond belief, you had DH’s, Rets and Demo Locks playing 1000 rating higher than they’ve ever been, the Ret patch made the game unplayable until they were nerfed and 3v3 was dead.

Erm…no we didn’t. Eternal season was dead, 0.06 % of WoW accounts have the Glad mount, compared to 0.5% for Unchained.

And they still are, I got mine on the first day of playing the season. The season’s last months and months, if you can’t be bothered to practice, learn and improve to earn an extremely easy thing to get then why should you be given it? Similarly if you DO put the effort in and you weren’t good enough to earn it, why should you be given it?

People didn’t quit in SL s2 because they left the season running for 9 months and we were in a pandemic with everybody locked inside with nothing else to do, therefore giga inflating the MMR by simply queueing it up. If we were put into a lockdown again today, do you think that participation would increase, decrease or stay the same?

I did last season, didn’t queue a single game on my main after Glad.

Good, something correct.

Well if you remove the rewards, then you haven’t earned them, right?

By saying after they earn rewards I meant that they earn rewards and after that situation.
I don’t see how that could’ve been unclear.

By the way, in the very same comments I explicitely stated that it’s different scenario from rewards being un-earnable.

I’ll ask you for a second time since you ignored it the first time: can you show me your sources that my assumption that people would quit after they’ve earned their rewards is ‘disproven by reality’?
