[PvP] Warlocks underperformance as result of homogenization of most classes

Do you want screenshots?

Why are you deriving the discussion into personal matters?

Its absurd.

Its much easier to talk using external data:

The stats we get from pages such as arenamate or worldofwargraphs shows clearly that:

-destrolocks are one of the best 3v3 classes.

  • However, they are pretty average when it comes to 2v2.
  • Any other warlock spec is useless.

The thing is… the current design of the class is disliked by everybody, including the warlocks themselves. Playing my destro lock i feel like I am in a DOTA game: but not as one of the heroes, as one of the defensive towers.

Locks currently only have one use: hitting hard and being punch bags. And is a design that is not enjoyable.

Take out passive defenses, and give us active ones instead, and very few destro locks will cry about the changes.

Pretty evident. Look at warlock PVP PoV videos from before Legion and now. Which one looks more fun to you?

the thing is, all the mele classes need nerfing, or the warlock needs buffing.

How can a guy in a track-suit be slower than a guy wearing heavy armour, with a big bulky weapon in their hand(s)?

We should be able to run 3 times faster than any mele class.

We should also be able to cast while moving, like they can.
They should only be able to catch up with us when they use skills and talents to do so. And if we use burning rush they should never catch us, since it does the damage for them.

That is the joke.

Just let us run, as baseline, in our track-suits, faster than the heavy armour wearing guys.

Answer is no, warlock is not totally fine in pvp. Especially in high rating one simple mistake can cost his/her victory.

Please play smart or watch carefully before you post in forum and mourn about your plays. As a warrior is your responsibility to keep your Cool Downs and use them wisely. If you stand there trying to interrupt him while Undying resolve is out with Inferno, then you should watch some more high rating.

PS: And no that leap wont help you when you already welcomed one Chaos bolt and the other is on the way. You should have used it when Dark Soul was out and hide for 20 sec. Don’t worry we wont chase you, our mobility has gone when ppl complained about that too.

PS2: L2P

Wait wait, you just forgot ur root/coil/fear/stun.
So you think they wont use this before using Chaosbolt? Cmon Buddy, be smart!
You still dont get how dogplay it is to run 25 secounds around the pillar when infernal is up. I dont blame you, I blame blizzard for this crap gameplay.
Although there is no reason to be so mad for being bad. I appreciate this demon armor nerf but as you see, warlock is still in a pretty good spot.

If you’re losing against any meeles (except its a dk/ww) then u’re literally bad.
Then its ur own fault and you need to practice more.

As you said, Learn to Play, its not that hard as lock.

how can anyone who is bad, practice, when they just get totally owned by all mele?

That’s like saying, if you want to be better at boxing then you should spar more with Mike Tyson first.

The destruction warlock is so limited in PvP, that even the computer controlled hordes on island expeditions are difficult to beat without assistance from your team.

Ok first of all, I am still learning and thank you for your advise but here is few things to follow up:

  1. Warriors will always chase me in arena, if i don’t play good, my team will lose.
  2. I have to stay alive for more than 3 minutes in order to summon 2nd infernal. If I don’t my team will lose.
  3. If my 2nd Infernal phase fail, my team will lose.
  4. Warriors can be immune to fear/charm/coil/root for a duration- I can’t be immune to their fear or stun.
  5. Warriors can reflect chaos bolt - I can’t reflect their mortal strike or their execute.
  6. Warriors can reach me when I try to run away from them (charge 20sec + Leap 45 sec), I only have to choose 1 talent between coil or teleport or gateway every 2 minuts.
  7. Warriors can interrupt my spellcast every 6 seconds - I Cannot parry execute unless i am extremely lucky.
  8. Warriors blade storm has 1.5 cd and makes them unstoppable. My undying resolve has 3 minutes cooldown

You can balance these things now.

I could simple say more to you but can’t blame you. You see Warriors were blizzard’s spoiled child that used to take easy wins in pvp for years. Too bad those times are over now for you and me, so we can learn better how to play in arena.

If you ask me again I feel good for players such as you. You give me free win in arena and I don’t have to try hard.

I am carrying warriors and rogues on my back since vanilla and never cried how unbalanced game was. That means my dogplay is 14 years and i really enjoy it.
If you can’t dogplay for 20 seconds that means you need a game that you only requires to press one button and win.

Stop QQing for the game not being easy for you.

Hey,

as you all said… DESTRUCTION warlock ist pretty good atm and that is right. But that doesn´t means we Warlocks are not allowed to complain.

  1. Affliction and Demo are quiet bad atm especially in arena
  2. The Destruction makes absolutly no fun to play!
If you let a Warlock freecast our DMG output is insane (not only on destru) but if your enemy manages to train and LoS you, you won´t will have a good time. Playing this spec feels really depressing.
And I think most of the warlocks would agree if Blizz nerfs our damage output and give us some mobility/utility back so that the Class feels better and thats the most important thing in this Game.

Affl and Demo got nice mobility but dmg sucks to the ground. Even in high mobility bossfights hardly I can beat Destro dmg.

In arena Destro was doing ok. Ppl QQ about tyrant dps (which is 100% kitable) and it was nerfed to the ground. There was no reason at all to nerf demon armor for Affl.

Destro is fine in pve but in arena is hard to play. You will get punished hard if you missed something or simple forgot some of opponents cool downs.

I’ve seen warriors poping Deflect Shield too early, or 2 people at same time trying to interrupt me while undying resolve is out. I even witnessed Paladins missclicking Divine Shield when was no reason to do that. Their team still win.

Several times my self cast Inferno too early, or Death Coiled wrong target, or interrupted wrong spell and my team was hard to recover, or even lost game because of a simple wrong button.

I do believe all High Rating Warlocks playing flawlessly. I really admire them, but I wont be able to do that. I wish my class had some fail safe mechanics like other classes have.

At this point we all can agree that warlocks can do nice damage, but gameplay sucks.
And gameplay loop is the problem that reveals much more problems under the hood.

  1. Bad gameplay design.
  2. Bad spell design.
  3. Bad spells program code.
  4. Lack of polishing.
  5. developer disinterest in developing the class.

  1. The Warlock walks so slowly, that every 5 steps they take, their minion has to stop and wait a while for the Warlock to catch up!

Unending resolve gives you an 8 second window out of every 3 minutes, where you are allowed to stay alive for a little while longer and make mele classes actually have to put in a little effort in order to kill you. It should be unending and it should resolve the threat of mele & stuns.

What effort, are you seriosly? When you pop up your Unending resolve, melee will just stun you during that time, and will have few seconds to make a sip of tea.
This isn’t a thing that makes them to put more effort, it is a freaking tea break.

you laughed so hard because it’s true!

I have in the past, even been kicked out of dungeons for walking so slowly (in past expansions).
