It is more comforting to commune with folks who believe Void Elves will be de-voidified and Blizzard is going to make Quel’thalas a neutral kingdom in the story than to accept that what this is is bad fan-fiction by committee.
Yes, god forbid we have more customization in our favourite game.
Maybe one day you will get a hobby that doesn’t include trashing people who want more nuance in their game.
Amora, get over yourself. This isn’t about what you want and never was. You want to upend the entire game for the sake of this. Void Elves not to be Void Elves. Blood Elves to be duplicated. Alliance High Elves to be not dead.
Now remember, you have to say ‘Good for you’ or ‘We’ll see’ in response, because otherwise you’ll have proved you’ve no self-discipline.
Let’s assume Blizzard allows for the toogle. And that’s going to be it. The High Elf fans are satisfied. No more demands. Then they announce new wave of customization. Each race gets 10 new hairstyles, faces etc. What will happen with Void elves? Will they get 10 each for their themes or 10 split between them? Which theme should get more - the “Embrace the Void” or “Supress/HE Roleplayers”? It’s basically opening for a war within the Race’s community. Because both sides will tug the line in their favor. And you’ll use the same argument for more Non Void customization - “It gives more options for people”
Ah, yes. the world ending argument. One of my favourites.

if Kaeros wants to try and bait something I just say “Good for you” or “We’ll see”'.
Couldn’t even manage the first reply.
But yes, you are attempting to rewrite the game for your own sake for a petty personal want.
Quel’Thalas will go neutral. Only explanation on why we have blue and gold eyes elves roaming stormwind.
Hence the name Quel’Thalas Adventurer.
Where exactly are they in the beta? I’ve searched SW twice and OG once and couldn’t find any. ![]()

It doesn’t have to be one or the other. They could design the hairstyles in a way that, when you deactivate the tentacles, there’s additional hair covering the gap. For accessoires, other races can already choose a color theme. And if they were to add tattoos, you could also work with different colors.

They’ll never be satisified. The toggle would prove to them that constant complaining yields results. The next targets will be the reverb voice, the purple blood and of course the nameplates because having gotten the toggle they’ll assume they can get more. After all, they got the toggle. If anyone suggests ‘this is all we want’ that person is lying because they can’t speak on behalf of everyone pushing this.

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work that way and would still require you to implement 2 hairstyles regardless. It would just appear as a simple toggle. The tatoos also differ between the two since Ren’dorei actually went and created their own aesthetics which we see in their gear and buildings. Unlike High Elves which still take from the same cultural pool they share with Blood Elves.
What does “Void Customization” even mean, though? And by extension, what would “non-void” entail? Because as it stands, Void Elven hair is used on High Elven NPCs. And “HElf” eyes/skin/hair colour is applied on VElves. In neither case does it make the characters any less VElven or HElven respectively.
You’re making it sound like VElf and HElf appearances are incongruous with one another, to a point where they’re not reconcillable. Whereas in practical terms, it doesn’t really matter.
Take Alleria’s face markings and tattoos. They’re clearly Void Elven - but they’re done so through the purple colour. If they were applied with the colour blue, they’d be more in line with what you’d expect from a High Elf’s. Same thing goes for hair colours.
You can kill two birds with one stone.

Like you are speaking about how “they will never be satisfied” and making predictions about their behaviour right now, using generalisation in the exact same way?
If anyone suggests ‘this is all we want’ that person is lying because they can’t speak on behalf of everyone pushing this.
That’s true, people should speak for themselves or at least limit the generalisation of their POV-demands. That’s why I’m cautious and use “some of us” or “some in the HE crowd”, when I talk about these things. As in “I know HE fans who agree with that”.
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work that way and would still require you to implement 2 hairstyles regardless. It would just appear as a simple toggle.
May be. Personally, I’m not that hung up about that either, I’m not bothered by the gap.
But the are many hairstyles where the tentacles are on top, so they’re not missing when you deactivate them. And if there were hairstyles where the tentacles are integral, they could just make the tentacles mandatory and remove the toggle. We’ve seen it work already.
Regarding the tattoos, they wouldn’t necessarily have to be entirely different. When you look at the Nightborne architecture and style f.e., you can clearly see the Night Elf roots in it. It’s just… different enough.

This exactly.

Long experience. I remember back before BFA, when all they had to go on was the promise of a sub-race system, that they said they would be satisified with a differentiated variant from Blood Elves. They just wanted to be a High Elf in some shape or form.
And then they got Void Elves and have been campaigning to twist Void Elves closer to High Elves ever since. So you tell me, given I have seen how this debate has developed for as long as I have, and given every incremental concession has been met with further demands, why I am wrong to say what I have said?

At the moment portal room. Per source tweet
Ok just found out something big on beta that slipped under the radars.
The Silver Covenant and the Shattered Sun offensive will have their shared quarters in Silvermoon. This new faction will be called “The Silver Sun Covenant”.
Rejoice High elves fans. Alliance high elves are back in Silvermoon.
Shattered Sun offensive
Sunreavers, rather than Shattered Sun. And I don’t think they will have a new faction altogether, but yes, they will be sharing the command building with one another.
Hahaha yes the Sunreavers of course.
But the Silver Sun Covenant is real.
Kinda hope they rename it if that’s what it’s called.
But that’s great if it stays!
Apparently in english it’s called the “Silver Sun Accord”. In my native language it’s called “The Silver Sun Covenant”
That reunification is happening.

It’s like the players wanted actual High Elves from the get go, to the surprise of no one.
Blizzard has a long history of making these kinds of decisions, and then backpaddling on it - but in this specific case while also continuously putting actual High Elves in our faces.
There’s a reason for it, and it’s very valid - and to say it’s absurd for players to want things in a game whose history spans several generations IS what’s absurd.
We’re not asking for anything to be rewritten - we’re asking them to complete the process they set in motion.
