That would be great. Like i previously mentioned you have 2 types of VE. Alleria and Umbric.
Alleria seems to change into void form at will. Having that option for me would be awesome. Its about controling the power.
As someone who does pve questing mostly and not into the raiding scene, its very noticable. But again, im just advocating for the option for the Void Elf fantasy.
I suppose if there was a proper schism between the two forcing the Void elves into two camps.
I would welcome some internal drama on the alliance.
doesn’t have to be a gang war, but a large enough disagreement to warrent the difference in paths to wielding the void for the alliance.
And that were given specific story, set of beliefs and abilities that helped them differentiate themselves from the Blood Elves they originated from. Because the story had me spend more than needed time with Void Elves in K’aresh I can safely sell they’re not easily mistaken for a Blood Elf. In about 7-8 years that passed in Lore they managed to build uniqueness out of what they are.
High Elves to this day have nothing but their allegiance.
Lets be honest their story started with, we wanted to study the void and got exiled. Not exaclty pullitzer worthy.
High Elves after the destruction of the sunwell started because they did not agree with Blood Elf mana tapping methods and got exiled. Again not exactly pullitzer worthy.
But you can expand on it. The potential is there.
And they have the set of beliefs, a specific story, and the abilities can just be added like the VE ones were. Like i said more rugged, shamanistic (due to wildhammer and dranei) more Light inclined (due to dranei) and less arcane. And this is top of my head just using a lodge as an example.
Alleria was already void touched before the Naruu. Unfortunately i have to leave for a while, I am really enjoying this bit of discussion. Lets keep it on this level.
Only one, but for the sake of it.
lets say Umbric and Alleria had a disagreement.
Umbric wants to delve further into the void, maybe harness the power of a void naaru or void lord a mirror to how the blood knights used to drain a naaru for power.
but Alleria wants to maintain as much of their elven form as possible while still understanding the void.
both are valid paths to mastering the void.
After 20 years of it not happening though do you really hold high hope? Blizz did more for Void Elves (and even that’s not much) in 7.
I admit it’s an interesting choice if a bit of a left field considering I’m willing to bet that Blizzard forgot about Quel’danil as the only High Elves we’ve seen since were the highly sophisticated Arcane aligned Dalaran Elves of Silver Covenant and Veterans from Second War who can’t believe the times changed.
Keep in mind though that while not to a degree of the Army of the Light but Blood Elves also hold decently high affinity to the Light ever since the Cleansing of Sunwell.
Quel’danil elves is in my opinion, offer the best contender for a take on the high elves, who are different enough from the other two we already have.
even more so if they lean into the shamanism and druidic, to stay true to lore they would have to give up on arcane classes like mage but I think there is something to work with there, more so than the silver covenant.
People are going on fragments of information and datamined snippets. Something called a Dawnwell has been mentioned, and people are thinking that the Dawnwell maybe what the Sunwell becomes…but the Dawnwell is something in Harandar. There is an aura called ‘Dawnwell Aftermath’ but given part of the story of Harandar seems to be that something is wrong with their Dawnwell, it being fixed could result in an aura labelled Dawnwell aftermath.
In reality, we will probably know the future of the Elves at the end of the raid, in only a few months, and thus a resolution of this issue. For not only is Midnight a case of ‘if not now, when?’ but with 12.1 being a big troll patch and 12.2 inevitably being some form of bridging patch away from Quel’thalas, the story has to move on.
From what i could tell from questing in harandar there is no mention of a dawn well there.
It does seem to apply to the sunwell. The last chapter is called the dawn of a new well. And the said in the dungeon video a while back that the light bloom was coming from the dawnwell, but we now know it’s coming from the sunwell. Seems to me like they made a mistake a called it by its new name.
Really? I am happy to amend my statement then as I am not really familiar with the quest content in Midnight, and the sources mentioning them mislead them.
Alright, so the Sunwell becomes a Dawnwell. I am unsure of the significance of the new name save Dawn is the breaking of new light.
it does suggest the Sunwell will remain exclusively a light based power source.
The first patch will be a troll raid. I assume after the army of the light goes bad the final raid is gonna be a something something light raid. And then we are already almost into Last Titan so the issue with the Sunwell has to be solved early.
Oh you misunderstood. I like the idea. What I meant is that they were basically absent for everything past Cataclysm that just confirmed their survival. The idea itself? All for it.
I am hoping the last raid is the light going bad, mostly because I would hate to defeat Xal’atath now. She really deserves to be the final boss of the entire trilogy, even over Aman’Thul.
It tracks we’ll solve the sunwall issue either in the first patch or the follow up one.
question is if Xalatah will be defeated as well or last til the end of Midnight where I am certaint the stone dragon with the transformer decepticon sounding name shows up again.
Xal’atath and Aman’Thul at the Manifold for 13.2, which we will reach in Khaz’Algar.
I think that would be a mistake, but if it is that way it is that way. Xal’atath is the best villain they have done since Garrosh, she really deserves to go the entire way and be the final boss.
I still suspect Iridkron will somehow show up and while not betray Xalatah, more or less put an end to her plans and take over as the main bad guy, most likely with some plan to threaten the titans or just azeroth.
