I don’t even know why I bothered to reply
I’m happy to come here less, it doesn’t get better around here…
You do you, Booboo. Personally, though, whether someone who looks like me plays Horde or Alliance makes little difference to me. I’m much more happy to see people able to create characters they enjoy playing. Which is a great theme of Shadowlands.
This! Qft!
But what you describe is exactly that. A Blood Elf, but playable on Alliance as a High Elf. Because that is what a High Elf is, including your beloved Silver Covenant. Rather deliciously, the founder and leader of the Silver Covenant was once quite happy to be called a Blood Elf. Until She got Exiled for going Vegan.
Well that would be widdling all over the lore then, wouldn’t it? Elves are not an ‘Alliance thing’ This.Is.Not.Tolkien (Thank the Gods)
I’m going to look at this objectively, this is a person who thinks that 96.4% of the Developers are actually Horde, not main Horde, are actually -members- of the Horde, so they think the Horde actually exists in our real life. They also think that if you have a Horde character, you are a White Supremacist, so they have some very confused ideas there, and they also think that women are to be regarded as of easy virtue and financially negotiable affection. Is that -really- someone you want to be associating your views with?
With Elixir of Tongues this is going to make the RP opportunities between High Elves and Blood Elves rocket through the roof!
Ion is not a lore guy, and he freely admits that. He has been wrong in the past, and has had to climb down from a few hills he planted his flag on. I really don’t know why they let him talk about lore issues. He’s a game mechanics guy, which is understandable, he was a New York Lawyer before he worked at Blizz, so he is good at the immutable stuff, where there is a clear and set way it works, but not at Lore, but in fairness to him, as I say, he never pretended that he -was-. Ideally they’d get a dedicated Lore person to make those kind of pronouncements, but hey, Blizz be Blizz.
Jaysis, that is a bit harsh don’t you think? Guess you hate me too then, as I don’t actually mind the new Void Elf stuff, and wouldn’t even mind if they got new hair colours. Not -all- the Blood elf stuff obviously, but the sane people aren’t asking for that, only the lunatic element.
Perhaps the triumph of hope over experience? I know that is how I feel whenever I see Retributor post
They keep stealing blood elf things. For me this ruins the gaming experience.
look up the definition of stealing in the dictionary. Blizzard owns the game and they made the decision.
for many, this makes the gaming better. you want to be a Sand troll? you can do that. you want to be a wildhammer? you can do that. Even blizzard themselves said they got a lot of positivity from this. I hope more customizations like Dark rangers, ogres, Gil goblins, Forrest trolls, and stuff gets added
Because of people like you the blood elves are no longer unique. Your demands ruined the game.
I just want Horde playable Gnolls, Come on, We can have those, there is a lore reason? Heck, I’d write the lore and background for them if Blizz wanted! I know what culture I’d base them on, what racials, what IC belief’s they have, their caste culture, their mounts, everything! GIMME GNOLLS!
???
YES HE SAID THAT, but look, void elves, literally some blood elves went to alliance
Elves are actually on their own and should be so. Neither horde or alliance.
I really don’t see the cultural difference these days. I would argue that their cultures are once again aligned in all respects - except which faction they choose to throw their support behind, which is more of a political matter than anything else. Considering the state of affairs back during the Burning Crusade, that difference is frankly negligible to me.
With Lor’themar Theron, the Blood Elves are back on track as the elves they used to be. No vampiric tendencies due to the Sunwell, no naaru slaves due to the Sunwell, and no acceptance of dangerously corruptive magics - due to the Sunwell. They are more protective than vindictive these days, though the goals no longer justify whatever means the TBC era Sin’dorei would have accepted.
I will cut this short before it turns into a repeat performance of conversations that have been had (a lot!) in this thread, but as I see it, the time where elves of Silvermoon were so obviously divided has passed. The only controversial group remaining are the Void Elves at this point, and even they seem to be chummy with the quel’dorei remnants in the Alliance.
So it boils down to different names and political beliefs. Which to me does not constitute a compelling reason to split down an already playable race between the factions, regardless of how badly some players want for that to happen. I know this has been done before (pandaren), and it struck me as an odd decision back then as well. We now have a close approximation (see my avatar) for Alliance players, and I cannot reasonably see the point in furthering the matter.
Yes, looking exactly like one :D…
untill you enter combat.
It literally lasts for 12 seconds. It doesn’t stay during the whole fight.
I personally love it looks nice and it’s temporary
It literally lasts half the time you’re in combat. Revealing your character’s void affiliation. Nothing of this resembles high elves.
#HighElves2020
#HighElvesForAlliance
exactly! we want highelves!
And? Your opinion towards women doesn’t resemble the opinion of a healthy person in 2020 either, why should we place any credence in your views. Oh, wait, we shouldn’t.
You bring nothing to the table and are an embarrassment to those who want High Elves.
Seriously, you are a disgrace when it comes to arguing a point.
Both blood elves and void elves already speak Thalassian, and can easily communicate across the faction barriers. I see no reason why high elves shouldn’t speak the same language. Especially since the most likely way to get playable high elves is by adding those final few features to the void elves.
What features are your blood elves missing, after all this theft? Skin? Eyes? Body shape?
Exactly!
Why is this uniqueness so important to you? I can make a character identical to Erevien if I want to. What does it matter to you if I clone you on the Horde or the Alliance?
If void/high elves got the Zandalari solution, where one can choose racial abilities (come on, Blizzard, no Alliance race has this, and it’d fit perfectly), we might simply be able to opt out of void features. This choice, in turn could be tied to a voice and tag change, from “void” to “high” (and disabling most void features such as tendrils and void tainted skin). Add normal hair colours, and we’re there.
QFT!
? How exactly?
As a role player who has tried over and over again to play as a blood elf, really tried the whole “The Horde is waiting for you” approach, I’m currently in the process of having my old blood elf paladin forsake the Horde, the blood elf name and even much of his devotion to the Light, in order to become a hunter, a high elf, and a member of the Alliance. At the moment, he’s not a 100% there, but I will manage, with just a little suspension of disbelief, and the use of a good role playing addon. So, Ismaor Vanerion Lightrunner is moving from https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/argent-dawn/vanerion to https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/argent-dawn/ismaor and I mean, it’s close. Really close. The hair is wrong, but manageable. The voice is wrong, but I don’t usually play with sound, and even then, I tend to imagine individual voices for my characters, and consider the in-game pc voices as placeholders anyway. The tag is wrong, but I use a role playing addon. The racial abilities are wrong, but I simply choose to ignore them for now. I believe there’s a /cancelaura script or something that can be macroed onto one’s skills to remove Entropic Embrace with a click while fighting.
The clothing is intentionally ascetic at the moment, marking his transition. It’s also two sets that are identical between mail and plate gear. I’ve got a super cliche of a high elf transmog for him waiting. Together with a Quel’dorei steed mount, and even an Silver Covenant Hippogriff.
Void elves are so close to allowing us to play as high elves now, that right now, I’m choosing to do that. If it takes too long without more high elven features becoming available, I might choose to stop playing him, but for now, I’m hopeful, enthusiastic and having fun.
