Quest - Surveying the Cliffside (Storyline Hard Lock!)

My storyline with the Archeologists in the Dragon Isles has become hard locked and I cannot proceed the storyline anymore.

I completed all the objectives of the quest “Surveying the Cliffside” and made the big discovery at the end appear.

This starts another quest, “A Cache in the Crag”.

I completed the “A Cache in the Crag” quest which removed the air elemental from the area, but instead of completing “Surveying the Cliffside” too, as the game intends, I deleted that quest to farm for the “When a rock is just a rock” achievement.

However, upon re-acceping it (at the new location the quest starter was moved to after parachuting), the game recognizes the “A Cache in the Crag” as being completed, meaning the air elemental used for the totems to excavates never appears whenever “Surveying the Cliffside” is started.

This means I cannot use the “Archivist Wind Totem” to excavate the artifacts anymore, so the quest is hard locked, and it’s impossible to complete this storyline and unlock the attached world quests.

I am now stuck with this game breaking bug that prevents me to continue the storyline completely.

There is also a branching quest line (Surveying the Tower / Hidden in the Midden) with the same mechanic, but in the Zaralek Caverns, so my guess is that the same hard lock can be done in that quest chain.

I would be happy if someone could fix this, and also change the objective status on my character ( Vomitersoul ) to “Completed” so I can hand it in and continue my questing.

I got this help with manual objective completed activation by a GM another time when a quest was gating me.

Hey Vomitersoul,

I’m not seeing any known bug with the quest Surveying the Cliffside, however if the issue persists, please do report it to our developers, and they’ll be able to check this out for you.

Please note that while game masters may assist with such issues from time to time, they’d generally only help when a known bug is confirmed by our developers.

Bug fixes are usually published in our Hotfix blogs and patch updates, which can be found in the News section of the main site.

Thank you!

This glitch is literally hard locking the entire questline from being completed, so it makes me angry to have to wait for months for them to “maybe” fix it as my Dragon Isles questing progress is completely at a halt until it gets fixed…

The only way to get this bug is to do the quest in the non-intended order as I described above, so if nobody abandoned the first quest after finishing the second (both available at the same time for some reason), this won’t happen to them.

So this is most likely why nobody encountered this issue before, since they are normally not sequence breaking them.
