you could try adjusting the UI scale in the system options

im not sure if that actually increases the size of quest text but it really ought to

I remember, a while back, that a similar player was looking for a text to speech add-on for a similar purpose; I didn’t follow closely enough to know if one was found.

There isn’t an addon, but a third party program that does text-to-speech for quests.

It works decently well, as long as you don’t mind having to listen to the droning monotone of the windows computer voice.

How would you want the addon to work.

A different quest box with more space and a larger font. Or different colours in the current quest box.

I imagine a simple and dirty option would be to use /fstack to find the quest box frame names and FontString name and then override the default font and colour settings. Could be a few lines of code but finding the global names of the frames may require some detective work.

Or you could have it where the whole quest box is just say plain text (like you see in the menu options) and a white or black background more like a tooltip but bigger font.

That’s likely bannable. Third party programs aren’t allowed to interact with the WoW client.

I would echo the following advice:

@OP be careful with this one.

I have bad eyesight too and wanted something similar (I used to read quests on Wowhead as my broswer is set to dark backgrounds).
I found an Addon called Storyline which breaks up the text into smaller chunks which are displayed on a darker background with a bigger font.
Most people would use this just as it feels more RP but I use it purely for the legibility.

Edit: Bellular demo’ed this here:

According to their website all the program does is automatically copy the quest text and put it into a text-to-speech program, which is something a lot of other addons do to save on code.

And got a lawyer’s letter.

It depends on how they do it. Just reading the program in memory is forbidden. I’m not sure if addons can automatically wrote to the clipboard.

What about the addon ‘moveanything’ ? You can move and resize pretty much anything so enlarging the quest pop-up text box might be do-able.

You can use elvui for this. In general options, under the media tab you can set the font and font size for all elements in the UI with a few exceptions that are set seperately, but quest text is definitely affected I just checked.
Under skins you can choose which parts of the UI you want to be covered by elvui, and which not. So you don’t even need to use the custom actionbars if you are good with the original one, simply disable them.

Be very very careful.

I’d infact write to a gm to check this okay. People have lost thier accounts for less.

Might honestly be worth checking how ever good the Intention, it’s a third party.

That was for a different addon which Bellular tried to create which tried to use the same NPCs to tell new stories, replacing the WoW quest text with something they created.

The Storyline Addon simply displays WoW’s correct quest text in a new format making it easier to read. It’s not made by Bellular, he simply liked it and showed it on his channel.
It still works fine, I use it everyday.
