Question about classic.. Is any way to play vannilia, tbc or wotlk?

I see there is tons of versions of classic.
What if i wanna play and enjoy vanilla or tbc? Is possible or not anymore? Im asking because there will be '‘cata classic’ and prodably after this MOP CLASSIC LOL.

If yes then people still palying tbc/wotlk? Or this is ‘dead content’ ?

Vanilla has Era servers, but for expansions there is only the latest version available.

At present the Classic versions are

Classic Era (Vanilla)
Hardcore (Vanilla but death is permanent)
Season of Discover (Vanilla with a twist, new abilities being released in phases)
Classic Wrath which will become Classic Cata later this year.

Oh so it’s not possible to play tbc anymore? Damn it sucks

Unfortunately no, initially when Classic TBC was introduced they left Classic as a standalone but the population tanked too much. They have connected a load of Classic realms to give them a working population on Era. But going forward they stopped leaving a standalone version of the previous expansion. So Classic TBC became Classic Wrath, Wrath is going to become Cata.

No official reason was given as far as I’m aware so that is my educated guess on why.

Oh damn decisions of this company are so strange.
I was always hear about how good is tbc but when i finally have time in life to check it i just… Can’t lol! Gj Blizzard like alaways you make awesome job.

Thanks sir for answer

There is still a glimmer of hope.

With Season of Discovery performing way better compared to Season of Mastery, it could be possible (since they are adding new content in the form of quests and raids) to move on to Outland or to be more precise the Vanilla version of Hellfire Peninsula.

It’s still stupid. They create classic… And after some time this will be no classic anymore. Soon pandaria classic will be in game. Also i didn’t tried this SoD. Strange level cap 25 or 40 is really stupid for me.

Then wait for 2 more phases and the level cap will be 60.

Maybe yes. But what after that? Next strange thing like ‘classic’? There will be classc? Sod Classic and mop classic? I mean on 60 will be SoD classic but soon after this will be tbc and wotlk classic sod lol

Well it was a simple decision, increased replayability.

With the cap lv25 people where playing multiple alts. Also the raids being on a 3 day resets instead of one is another huge factor.

it´s crazy that they´re spending money to open different versions of WoW when people only just wanted the original WoW.

then the different modes of these classics which end up neglecting retail, unless you count the WoW shop as content.

They kept Classic because it’s a version only available up to WLK.
Of course it’s not a low pop game and missing BC-LK additions, so… never perfect.

The issue is as others stated, the community fragmenting too much.
Could keep up one (PvE) server though to allow enjoying the world.
(And of course due to lack of activity, automated group finders for everything.)

It appears the community is constantly asking for fresh experiences, which can be generalized as seasonal fads. The newest stuff is typically the busiest, allowing to play together. Chances are non-zero that some BC iteration will come again. Either as part of another full progression cycle, or with a twist.

You can still enjoy BC content on WLK servers, except things are a bit easier / faster and you can’t just stop at 70. Also unlikely to run 70 dungeons and raids, except at 80 you can solo or organize.

I wouldn’t call SoD classic-like, btw. Runes are extremely powerful, people are doing 1000 dps at level 40. Consequently things fall over and the entire thing feels like retail on its worst day.
