I have a question about the the frost mage. When I read the wowhead or icy veins guides, there is something I do not understand. It says we should always cast a frostbolt before casting instant flurry and 2X ice lance. I am wondering why, I do not understand the logic behind.
For example, if I cast frostbolt Flurry instant 2X ice lance and I get a new flurry proc, I want to cast flurry again and two times ice lancer. should I really cast a frostbold before?
You should cast Frostbolt before Flurry because Flurry applies Winter’s Chill to the target. Flurry launches 3 bolts and each bolt applies 2 stacks of Winter’s Chill (With Brain Freeze).
Casting Frostbolt before consumes one stack of Winter’s Chill, gaining it’s benefit but because of travel times the other Flurry bolts will overwrite it and have 2 stacks of Winter’s Chill refreshed so you lose nothing about it.
However there is no need to use it if the situation demands movement.
Yes completely, thanks a lot. I knew I was missing something, I was not thinking about the 3 times effects of flurry which overwrite themselves. Now i understand the logic
