Question about item scaling with character-level/ilvl?

Sup!

So, I am quite confused about the item upgrade system.
So, I am to twink in level 60 and I have been thinking to get/buy a
Singing Crystal Axe for my twink-warrior.
However… It seems like there exist a new system. It scales with level in seven different versions 1-7.

As I am level 60, I need the first(1) or the second(2) scale version of the axe as those are for character level 53 respectively level 58 and I am able to equip those two scaled-versions. However, I have absolutely no idea of how to obtain those, so this is what my question is about. The axe is BoE so it is on the auction but I have only seen the level 70 version but two different versions of it, so the versions exists but I want the 53 or 58 but what determines which version you get to loot? Is it all random and can therefore be any of the seven(1-7) different versions or are the versions based upon the level of the character looting the axe? If it so is the later case, how in the world can one obtain the level 53 or 58 axe as you need to loot it from HC or Timewarp difficulties of TBC.

Also, on wowhead it says that each and every scale version of the axe requires character level 70+ to be equiped. But if you copy the in-game link and paste it in-game it displayes the versions respective character level requirements. So that is also a bit odd, but if it says it can be equiped at char level 53 in-game it is the fact regardless. But I have no idea how to get it in the first or second scale-versions in the first place =S
However, the scale-versions is a fact as I have two different versions on my main, with different stats and haste-rating procs. I think one are the old version and the other is the (7-scaled) version (I am fury-spec for dual wielding two of them).

I do however suppose it has to do with the char level you loot it on, as on the AH the old versions are req lvl 70 and the new one which is being farmed on 120 chars are the highest lvl req of 80 / the (7-version)
But not sure, and then again, how in the world can one obtain the first two different versions?? I am going crazy thinking about it ^^

But I would be superduperthankful if someone would have an answear to this and perhaps could be so kind to reply it!
/cheers

Oh and what version would I then get if I farm it on this level 60-twink? (1)-lvl53 (2)-lvl58 (3)-lvl61 version?
I bet it must be the 58, atleast I do hope so :X

Only scales when you take it to level scaling content.

It’s a lv70 wep anyway so good luck using it on a level 60 I guess. Oh and: you’re looking at ilvl, it’s a lv70+ only weapon.

Oh, well I am not so sure about that, it seems bugged in wowhead, it used to be level 70 req, and I am not looking at the ilvl, I am looking at the char-req level for it. You see, if you copy the in-game link from version 1 or 2 and so on… you can see the different char-level requirments for it, 53 58 61 and so on…
But yes, it used to be char-level 70 only. But it seems changed now since the new item scale system.

But the item scale system only works for when you’re equipping it and it gets scaled down in Timewalking or something.

You can’t magically find multiple variants of each item, there’s still only one of each unless it’s Timewarped, Warforged or Titanforged.

That axe is 70+. There is no equippable version for a lower level unless it’s a 70+ being scaled down.

I still am not convinced about this, as written, my main are wearing two different versions of the axe, they give different stats and are different ilvls, and this is in the regular world not in timewalking instances.
Also, if it scales during timewalking it would not scale to 53, 58, 61 etc… every item above the timewalking expansion event does scale, but this specifically have different level scales unlike what I have seen before.

I do think there is more to it.

If BoEs drops scale in timewalking then you’d need it to drop when you’re level 60 doing that dungoen in timewalking.

Oh, that sounds fair, but it seems weird, it would not be fitting… how to recieve the level 53 or level 58 versions then ^^
But yes, can one even enter TBC Timewalking at level 60? Does it not require a level of 70 to enter them?

EDIT: Yes it does so seem: “Timewalking for Burning Crusade content is available for characters level 71 and up”
So that does not explain how to get less than a level 70 axe, does it? Hmm…

D’oh. I forgot.

All TBC levelling normals scale from 6x-80! Same scaling rules apply. So any dungoen that you can enter at 60 from TBC may drop it.

The first comment also says it is a world drop so it may, at a very low rate, drop from mobs at level 60 but you may ding grinding for it.

Oh well if this is the case, I hope it is but it will mean a lot of grind. When I have serached wowhead it only says it drops from the TBC raids as well as TBC dungeons but only HC-mode and Timewalking mode. I have not found any monster who drops it in Normal Mode, but I hope it does.
And I hope it will be for my level then, but I suppose I will have to play about 150 dungeons before I even have a chance to see it drop in a Normal if so is the case as it must be really really rare.
But thank you for your reply! I will continue to play TBC dungeons in normal difficulty and hope that it can/will drop.
