Question about Monk's Karma

Hi,
Monks came to existance back in the expansion Mist of Pandaria.
They get to get a “new” ability called Karma which was basically Warrior’s Retaliation, hence why Retaliation got pruned from the game.
Strangely enough, paladin’s talent Eye for an Eye is still in the game.

Now, if you are thinking why am I giving this history of developer’s class balance here is why - while Retaliation or Eye for an Eye can be countered by not attacking Touch of Karma does not work like that - if the monk player uses it on you - everyone attacking said player redirect the damage on you.

This creates a lot of opportunity for trolling or just bad players doing the mistake of hitting you since they have no idea what the ability does.
Now obviously there are numerous solution to that but we all know blizzard class devs are not that good at designing abilities (look at Blessing of Protection - 10 sec immunity, what were they thinking ?) but at least one quality of life thing can be included.

Here is the question - can I ignore people so that they can’t do damage to me while they attack the monk using Touch of Karma on me ? I am fine if they do damage to themselves even double the damage or more - Class designers devs certainly can balance this out.
I have enough trouble explaining to new players how they should leave me the last killing blow since that’s how Victory rush works.
