Question about multispec gear

Hi all,
I have mostly played guardian and I am trying to learn other druid specs.

I am trying feral at this moment. As far as I gathered, I will need to keep separate trinkets and weapon for multispec.

However what about rest of the gear. Should I also farm 4 piece that is more crit oriented?

I see main stats changing to different ones but not sure if those are optimal.

Do you keep multiple sets of gear with different gems/ enchants on them or just one specific gear set for one spec and swap the weapon and trinkets when you want to play different role in dungeon?

This depends on how serious you take your off-spec or -specs.

I “main” feral and balance so I have two sets for weapons and trinkets at least (agility vs. intellect).

Regarding feral and guardian: Crit is the best stat currently for feral whereas as a guardian you want to avoid it completely (from what I understand). So it would make sense to have a second set of gear.

I would just like to interject for a short moment and say Crit is not that bad as Guardian. A while back I simmed my gear for defensive purposes and it told me to get a lot of items with Crit on it, which I found odd, because just like you, I thought Crit was bad from a defensive purpose because of all the guides. Then I thought about it, and crit from gear does give you dodge, and I believe it’s a 1% crit = 1% dodge conversion, which would mean over the long run 1% crit equals 1% dmg reduction. As opposed to Versatility, which is half that. Naturally Versatility is ALWAYS there for you and dodge relies on prayers to RNGesus. But some of the bigger, magical dmg tankbusters that guardian struggles with like SBG’s Void Slashes and TJS’s Phantom Claw are in fact dodgeable, so if the gods look favourably upon you, you can completely negate the dmg that way.

This is not a claim that crit is the best stat, it’s not even a claim that it’s not the worst, it’s just a little interjection to give some love to it as a tank, as it’s not as bad as the rep it sometimes get. If you like rolling the dice, go crit.

Now, apologies to interrupt your threat mr original poster, as to your question, I agree with the previous poster. Depends on how serious you take it. If you need the offspec only to help out in “lower content” than you run with your main, I’d say just get weaps/trinkets and don’t worry about the rest. None of the secondaries are completely useless to either spec, it’s more about optimalisation. Now if you want to be a dedicated raid tank/healer for your guild depending on what they need that evening, I’d say you should look into getting two sets, yes.
