So, this embellishment is suggested for bis leather item Toxic Thorn Footwraps. However, those footwraps, similar to elemental lariat, already have a special effect by default, which counts as one embellishment. Therefore, you’d have to craft the armor patch onto another crafted bis item and with it use up your second embellishment slot.
I don’t feel like the effect is worth the hype really. Both, elemental lariat default embellishment and blue silken lining embellishment feel like the better choices for second slot. Any opinions on that from fellow leather classes?
From the calculatory point it actually is the best combo for embellishments.
However the downside is that you effectively bind two equipment slots together and by replacing one item the other one loses value as well.
So for example you get better shoes then you’d have an embellished item without use and need to recraft it.
Or if you get a better item in the slot where you have the toxic armor patch the toxic thorn footwraps lose value.
You have something similar with the elemental lariat but not to that extend.
Personally I prefer an itemization that does not depend on creating links between different items.
For start, all three crafted bis items for balance druid might be better than s2 gear tho. Never been the luckiest with gear so having them as a “starter set” that’s not occupying tier set seems a good choice. However I really don’t want to waste my second embellishment slot. Not to mention that you’d have to clear a Brackenhide each time you want to recraft that patch OR the boots.
I’ll have them recrafted one more time today to max quality with dream crest of enchanted wyrm now that my DH finally has the leather skills. But I’m not even sure if I should waste my first dream crest of the enchanted aspect on them…
Yes but the embellishment in discussion has to be crafted on another item. Items for slots where there is one M+ / Raid loot alternative for the crafted bis option. Meaning I would be forced to not change said slots.
Probably. Or probably not. If I’d followed the suggestion for talents according to numbers I’d do about 50 percent less damage with my current setup. It’s not always as easy as generic calculations under ideal circumstances of gear would suggest.
Yes, that’s the exact point. It would be broken if you could tap the same item.
TAP effect is literally “Double the effect of another effect you have” instead of giving another embellishment effect. The “bis” option is probably 3 extra ilvl at best if you manage to find it on Myth path or in the raid. I really doubt 3 ilvl could make up for that.
Guides are there to help people get into new classes and specs, if you wanna min max, the only way to do so is by Simming your char a lot.
So yeah it is entirely possible that given some people stats/gear/etc different build may yeld better results but if you know how to sim yourself yourself there is no way calculations are 50% off.
74% of the top Balance druid logged run in M+ are made with thorn + tap, and that includes the highest key made yet.
7% use slimy boots + tap.
2% of the sample use lariat + thorns with the highest key being a 22.
In raid 90% use Thorns + Tap.
Vs 0.33% using lariat+ thorns.
It is not a matter of experience, if you just wanna craft lariat because whatever go ahead.
I crafted the back cause i prefer a slight survivability boost over a slight hps increase the first few weeks but other craft are objectively better.
Bliz nerfed all other embellishments into oblivion prior to this tier. None of them are good, some are just slightly better than others. Craft thorn + something with patch and use the two free heroic crafting crests from rep / Fyrakk to upgrade them instead of wasting wyrm / aspect crests that could be best used on higher slots like weapons.
Bliz orbital striked the cloak before this patch. I’m not even sure it’s worth looking at if you literally only cared about survivability. Something like an 87% nerf.
In terms of damage yes, the above two are a good combo even if you sacrifice two gear slots for it.
A safe way to go about is to use the patch on an armor slot that is not occupied by a tier piece and have a lower stat budget. These slots should be boots, gloves, wrist and cape/back.
Generally going with the cape/back option now is good as we do not have a special one dropping from this raid. For you wrists are also a good option as druids have combat res baseline, so there is no need for the engi bracers.
As for clearing BRH: you only need to clear the dungeon on mythic once. After that, if you do not forget to reactivate your ID on the dungeon after evety reset, you should never need to clear the dungeon ever again.
You can check some of the logs I have on on roughly how much DPS the boots along with TAP gives currently. If you do not use TAP you basically have to half the damage the boots give.
I don’t. But it reads out like you want to. So again, thanks anyways. ~
Crafted wrists and gloves are the other two bis items yes. I just wonder if the - chance - and amount of nature damage will compensate for things like constant mastery increase as it would be with the blue silken lining really. Will have to try and see.
BSL uptime is incredibly unrealistic, BSL was also nerfed significantly going into this patch. It’s only used by specs that don’t have access to toxic patch.
And is lariat going to be of use again later on with enough sockets? I mean given the low droprate for that recipe it should at least be meaningful for longer than two seasons.
