I have a question regarding toxified embelishments. I’m thinking of crafting either Slimy Expulsion Boots or Toxic Thorn Footwraps on my main character since they seem to do good damage in M+. I’m a bit confused by:
These effects are increased by 100% if you equip an item crafted with a Toxified Armor Patch.
I already have a crafted non-toxified embelished weapon with no replacement so I can’t craft and equip another Toxified piece of gear. Does anyone know if crafting and equiping the boots is worth it in terms of DPS when you don’t benefit from the 100% of another piece?
raidbots will be happy to answer all your questions in your particular case. If you need help about how to simulate properly, don’t hesitate to ask, will try to help.
I’ve just simulated both boots for your character for raid and it gives this:
Toxic Thorn Footwraps 447 (Watcher’s Loam 3) - DPS: 109,971 - DPS change: 3.0%
Slimy Expulsion Boots 447 (Watcher’s Loam 3) - DPS: 109,346 - DPS change: 2.4%
For me the boots alone will give +0.5% dps, but I don’t want to lose speed, so I’ve decided to not use it. Seems like it’s the same for you to decide, if 0.6% dps difference worth losing 10% of speed.
Thanks for your reply! It’s a good tip to just sim it. Don’t know why I haven’t thought of that.
Yeah losing the speed isn’t very useful. Btw, on a dungeon slice sim it gave me a -44 DPS with the Toxic Thorn boots equipped but this was simmed with the Elemental Lariat replaced by a 441 Chain of the Underking because, correct if I’m wrong, I can’t equip those boots and also have the lariat equipped?
The two boots are mainly useful from a single target perspective, so on dungeon trashpacks you will not get as much value out of it as in raids.
Depending on sims it is a decent option after the buffs it got at the start of S2, but then I do not think we have many AoE embellishment alternatives right now. It also depends on what spec you want to use it on, really.
It is very good for me on Brewmaster, and it would still be good without the armor patch buffing it up even further, but I am a tank, so for me flat damage procs are better.
Ok that’s good to know since I mainly play M+ where there’s more focus on AoE. I guess I’ll just stick with the Lariat and crafted weapon. Maybe I’ll someday get one of those BiS weapons from raid if I decide to get into that
