Question About Unlocking Other Hidden Artifact Appearances in BFA

I’m struggling to find answers to this.

I want to get a Hidden Artifact appearance, and unlock the other appearances. However, there appears to be no information on the methods of obtaining these in BFA. Here’s the questions I have:

  • Does the methods of obtaining the appearance (Dungeons, kills, etc) work with just the Transmog, and not the artifact weapon itself? (Can I use the transmog to obtain it, or does it have to be the artifact weapon?)
  • Can I obtain the appearances by playing BFA content, such as Battlegrounds, Dungeons and World Quests?

For the first question, you can try it with artifact appearances dropping from world bosses, because according to wowhead they drop 100%:

I’m pretty sure that you have to play Legion content to unlock them(except pvp ones probably)

It specifies you need to run Legion dungeons to unlock one of the appearances, WQ and pvp can be done from anywhere

The only condition is the have the base color unlocked. You don’t have to use it in any way shapre or form. If you have it unlocked it the counter will work when you do dungeons, kills or world quests.

With dungeons requirements specify they have to be Legion Dungeons, world quests can be done from any contet. And PvP kills well it can be from any form of PvP.
