Question for you laptop bois & ladies

After wow runs 10-15 mins on my laptop it’s fan starts to run really loud, i use around 60% of my cpu ( according to the info thingy ) is this normal? only in wow so far, but i dont play any other games on my laptop ( its mostly for drawing )

Just curious if this is worth opening a ticket or refunding the damn thing for
Let me know if any of you have the same problem/if this is normal

check the temperatures of CPU and GPU, be sure that nothing is interfering with the airflow - and yes, any thing gaming or gaming-alike laptop will scream in agony of ten thousand flames when any load is applied to them.

Me as an digital artist with 3 usbs plugged & and softwares installed : Sweats in artist

Cheers for the confirmation

Would be lovely with other lads opinion too! V

That’s kind of the point of fans, yes. Your laptop gets hot, so the fans trigger to cool it down. Working as intended.

I know, im abit of a boomer when it comes to laptops, had one when i was a kid, havent had one since and back then we played games that were … well browser games, so it rarely overheated

Cheers

I used to be a desktop guy and I panicked a bit when I first heard my laptop fans hit, not gonna lie. You’ll get used to it though, it’s perfectly normal.

I thought mine was malfunctioned tbh, the battery life was 2 hours and 15 mins ( it has a really weak battery which i didnt understand how worked )

Seriously wtf is 37 WW or whatevs Boomer 100 and 2nd the fan sounded like someone was using windfury irl

Yeaah…I have a 13" laptop, so a very small one, and my battery is 53Wh. If you have 37Wh on a 15" screen AND your laptop has a dedicated GPU, well then…your battery life is bound to be awful.

Yeah but that doesnt matter when i have it connected 24/7 does it? i know that laptops fail due to the battery giving up at first

Its also a laptop habit, i NEED to have the charger plugged in at all times like its freaking stationary!

When on battery power both CPU and GPU will likely work on lower clocks to preserve power. Plus when gaming both are under considerable load which wont last long on batteries. For the most part laptop on battery is good for light tasks. Anything more and it should be powered.

Cheers, also kills the battery with the insane graphics

Seriously my eyes hurt from such sharp colors :joy: i need nightmode sometimes when i play

explains a way to keep an eye on your temps. HWMonitor is good. And then look up the maximum safe rated temp for your components.

It could be that you have dust build-up in your fans and vents, so getting that cleaned out is not a bad idea.

If you need more, a laptop cooling pad can make a difference. I’m not sure it should be the first thing you go for, though; check the dust first.

Sorry for norwegian website, but theres multiple versions of it, i got the Lenovo Legion Y540 with 8 gb ram and i5 core if you are gonna google

When I played on a laptop, it was the same way. What helped a little was getting a cooling pad. It’s a pad with built in fans that you put the laptop on. Get one with large fan blades so that it runs quietly. Laptops also collect a lot of dust quickly, so clean it out regularly.

I was considering one of those but i dont want to look like im building a bomb at my work :joy:

The first thing is do other CPU heavy programs when run start up the Fan at full speed.

The second thing is even though they are called laptops, never use one on your lap.

Heavy CPU or GPU use will start up your fan. My laptop does the same.

Me who sits with laptop on the lap 24/7 : Well f**k

I have a laptop whose processor runs at 95C+ all the time. It heats up a small room in an afternoon of playing. Not even joking lol.

Get a laptop stand fan thingie. 15€ and you’re gold.
