[Question/Headcanon] Dark Iron Paladins

First of all: Hello!

I’ve been researching on the Topic of Dark Irons, and what their relations to the Light is, yet apart from the Light Wielding Mobs in BRD and the lovely First Boss of the Current Raid Tier, i found nothing. So i’ve went ahead and made myself a Headcanon.

If you have any Information on Dank Iron Paladin Lore, though, i’d be happy to be informed.

Let me begin the following part with the info that i am not an expert on Dwarven/Dark Iron Lore, i recently got into researching this for Brynhaldr so all of the following is a matter of ‘as far as i understand’.

In Blackwing Descent we have several Dark Iron Dwarves’ Ghosts, one of which is called “Spirit of Ironstar” - Wowhead - He uses the Ability “Execution Sentence” which was, and still is a Paladin Ability in terms of Engine.

The aforementioned BRD NPC is the “Anvilrage Officer” - Wowhead - which can use “Divine Shield” and “Holy Light” but also “Battle Shout”. And while this may be far-fetched, i would consider them a Paladin.

What we can technically gather from this is, that Dark Iron Paladins are either Higher Ranking Soldiers of the Dark Iron Military, have some power of Law Enforcement (or straight up executions) or both.

My Headcanon is that Dark Iron Paladins act as Moiras Enforcing Hand, seeking out those that would oppose her rule, as there seems to be some discontent about her being the rightful ruler of the Clan, and bringing them to Justice (hence “Execution Sentence” etc.), as well as having a hightened Military Rank. Something like a Justicar.

Headcanon is trash, don’t use it.

Your posts are trash.

WoW lore has numerous inconsistencies and gaps which provide us roleplayers with irritating speed bumps when fleshing out characters, writing backstories or generally trying to make facts add up. As long as your headcanon doesn’t bend existing information too far (and you find ways to mitigate disagreements you may have with those who don’t agree) there really isn’t an issue.

The thing is, the opposite could also just be the case (the paladins are those discontent because they were the former fanatics?). We just don’t know.

Also, this.

I haven’t really found any lore inconsistencies that would really impact on an RP character and make it difficult to write. Yeah you have to fill in the blanks with some lore but thats part of writing a character, I wouldn’t want to make a character that is just using only Blizzard’s writing. Unless you are talking about things like magic sometimes not being full explained, but I don’t really think that’s an issue.

As a response to the original post, it seems like an alright concept but I doubt all Dark Iron Paladins are enforcers. The Dark Irons seem to worship the same light as the humans so I would imagine some of their paladins would be similar to them.

^- This.

Nah, not all of them. That was basically just how i came to that assumption, since that is pretty much the role my Character inhabits and i wanted to see if my conclusion was just etc. or if there was anything concerning DI Pally Lore i missed.

Fair enough.
