So I wathced the deepdive on Blizzcon on War Within and I just want to be clear I understood this correctly.
Account wide achievements in War Within will make sure that even achievements like completing storylines will be checked with a green mark on every character even though you done them on one?
Currently you have the achievement for completing all storylines on each character, but the storylines itself will be greyed out on other characters.

How do they work? Well they don’t because it’s not a thing yet.
How will they work? We don’t have the specifics yet. We were told that they plan on making more stuff account wide but I don’t know if it’s for every new achievement or just some of them.
All achievment progress will be accountwide, so yes, all your characters will get the check mark if one of your characters do the step. Same goes for achievments where you have to do something x ammount of times, meaning the x/50 tasks done, for example, will go up whenever you do said task, no matter wich character you do it on.
The whole point is to make achievments truely accountwide, so that you the player earns them, rather than your individual characters.
If I recall they said all achievements except character specific ones and some class specific ones.
All rep will be account wide from Dragonflight and upwards and then they would be working backward to make all the previous reps account wide (could be years to finish that is my guess as it wont be a priority). Again some faction would be character specific and I am guessing its with factions such as Cobolt, Warathion etc.

Reputation is working seperate from achievement progress I believe. Currently all characters have the achievements on my account to the faction I am exalted with regardless of faction. The reputation however and the access to stuff from quartermasters are character specific yet.
Same except for a character specific - something like AotC - it will show up in my alts achievement list but if you hover over it will say earned by X character or list all characters who have earned it.
Class specific achievements would be the Paladin quest chain, Warlock quest chain and I think both DH and Lizards have their own.
