Question: Will Players Have to Reroll Charas for Self Found Mode

After reading several post about self found or some are calling self made mode. I’ve wonder if players will be forced to start over or reroll new chara during this self found mode. reason being is that blizzard may want to even out the playing field and not give already higher level charas an advantage. ALL players should start new chara once self found drops.

Plus self found should eliminate bots as they would not have anywhere to post their goods or be able to trade/sell their goods… win win in this case or killing 6 birds with one stone.

You can only select Self found mode at character creation. You can opt out but you won’t be able to opt-in self found later or on a previously created character.
I have a level 21 mage but I am excited to start a new self found character from level 1.

thats good to hear. GL

The only concern is that self found characters could be boosted in groups with fully geared and enchanted characters.

This is a H-U-G-E concern, and the reason that i’m probably not even gonna play this feature.

  • Open world mob-tagging boosting.
  • Open world healing boosting.
  • Carries in dungeons + funneling all the gear.

These things are gonna absolutely ruin this format unless bliz does something to adress it.

How can all this be prevented if it’s on the same servers?

The dungeon part can be prevented by only allowing SF to group with other SF. Did they say that would be the case, or did I just assume it?

I very much fear there won’t be SF servers though, simply because the community hype for SF has been lukewarm.

You’re right.
I honestly dont know how they could fix it.
Even making it Solo Selffound would not fix mob-tagging.

Rolling it out on a fresh server would at least reduce boosting and mobtagging for maybe a week or 2.
So thats probably the best fix available.
But they already said it would be on the same servers, so unfortinately I think its gonna be DoA.

Did they? Where?

Can’t remember if it was blizcon or one of the dev interviews later on, but they did say it.
I guess there is a slight chance they changed their mind since then, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

We can assume it will be on the same servers because self found mode can be disabled after talking to a NPC, even if it’s a new server it will get mixed self found and not self found quickly.

how is this a H-U-G-E concern? If people want to group up with regular HC players to do dungeons, how does this affect you? How will it ruin the format for you? Jealousy, envy? Stop trying to tell how other people should enjoy a game… a game they pay for.
Besides, based on your remarks it’s clear that you haven’t played hc at all, it’s not a retail gdkp infested sesspool, it’s actually a very open and friendly community.

Its pretty amazing how many blatantly wrong things you are able to put into a single post.

And for your information i’ve played hc since the inception.
It started out as SSF and the reason it was a succes in the community was because it bypassed a lot of the things people didn’t like in the game like goldbuying, boosting and content being to easy.

Now blizzard has made HC servers with some ammount of succes, but the problem is that most of these issues are back, and alot of people would like a version of HC that is simular to “the old version”.
And blizzard has kind of aknowledged this by doing this “SF”-version. But since they are only doing it halfway, stuff like boosting and trivializing content is still going to be present, and that is why its kindda pointless and likely to fail.
And yes of course people can just go play by themselves using whatever homemade rules they like(witch i often do), but why did we even have to have an official server then? The whole point of an official server was to have a serverstandard where everybody was playing by the same official rules, so that we did not have to play “make believe” anymore.

So don’t start talking about things you clearly know nothing about.

The HC addon was always pointless as people bought gear from vendors and got from dungeons.

If you want do it right make all gear drop only and BoP. No gear from Vendor, no BoE in Dungeon.

We have same official rule: Do not die!
If you want make fun by adding more challenge - do so - I do, but not try dictate other how to play.

Telling me that I’m wrong and then not providing any argument why? How does people getting boosted affect you at all? All I see is an opinion and 0 facts.

Stop trying to tell how other people should enjoy a game… a game they pay for.
