You will need an active subscription as well. Only the Epic Edition comes with some game time.

No? The game always needed gametime to operate. Under midnight it also says:
“* Requires World of Warcraft® Subscription or Game Time.”
And the big infograph also shows you does not include gametime in base Midnight.
