Questions about switching covenants

I have been searching abit and found out how to switch covenant, but since we are in a renown build up face, i am wondering if there is a catchup mechanism for the renown beyond 40 (aside from spirits) or if i at this point will fall behind each week? When i switch, i assume i will have to start building the covenant up from scratch? Now anima is not really a issue, but do i get to take that with me or is it locked in my current covenant? Appriciate any information and advice

A more helpful response, go read this wowhead article How to Change Covenants in WoW Shadowlands - Guides - Wowhead it includes a way of moving a fair amount of your anima with you when you covenant swap.

As far as renown catchup goes Ive noticed on an alt that I havent touched since 9.1 dropped but was at 40 renown, they were getting catchup renown from callings etc.

There is. As long as you’re 2-3 levels behind the cap, the catchup is present. It’s slower the closer you get to the cap, but it is present. You will not be behind 'till we reach 80 if you switch now. You can catch up fully in a week or two.

Yes. The new covenant will not have any upgrades unlocked. However, you will keep any achievements related to them, so if you have all R1/R2/R3 buildings unlocked, the anima reward increase will still be in effect, even if the new covenant doesn’t have all buildings on those ranks yet.

You can buy the 100 anima covenant gear in your old covenant, change covenants, and sell it back at the new one, so you can transfer most of your anima.
