Questions about Timewalking Black Temple

I Have recently acquired both of the warglaives on my DK and I have some questions about how the BT raid works during timewalking so I can get them as transmog for my DH.

  1. Do I need to do the raid on my DK(who has the glaives), or can I do it on whatever character?
  2. If I get into a group that doesn’t finish the raid will I be saved in such a way that I cannot join a new one to attempt to finish it again?
  3. Do I need to be above a particular ilvl? or should I bring anything in particular to make things easier?
  4. How hard is the raid? Should I just buy a boost with gold and if so how much is it likely to cost me?

I forgot the rest tbh, just gonna give you an answer to this:

Buy a boost. I remember getting it for 100k or something like that. Not worth doing it by yourself by any means if you’re ONLY after the glaives like I was. They teleported me in, killed the boss in 10 min, gg.

  1. As far as I remember, no. I believe there were classes that can’t use the swords that got it together with me.
  2. The raid uses a modern lockout, that means a loot based one. If someone who already killed a few bosses starts a new group then those bosses will be missing, but otherwise you simply aren’t eligible for loot on subsequent boss kills.
  3. Not really. Like the dungeons, your ilvl scales down. Just use a max level character to make sure you have all the talent points. If you really wanna cheese it, get the tier set bonuses and gems and enchants.
  4. It’s a bit hard to say what the difficulty is because our power changes every expansion and so might the tuning. I did it in BFA when we had Azerite powers and essences and corruptions. This expansion we’re light on borrowed powers, it’s pretty much the things I mentioned in the previous point. The timewalking dungeons this time around feel like they’re easier than ever before, so if the tuning stays the same the raid might be quite easy. They might decide to tune it to be harder though, who knows.

You can do the Timewalking on any character, regardless of whether they can equip the warglaives or not. The only requirement is that your DK must have equipped them for the achievement of wielding them.

Timewalking Illidan Stormrage will drop an item that let you learn the appearance of the warglaives, and it works like a cosmetic. From this point it is obtained, but only DHs will be able to transmog the appearance.

BTW I just realized that you can still bring the Heart of Azeroth with you and the ilvl scaling means it’s gonna be useful.

If you don’t have it on the character you plan to use yet make sure you go to Nazjatar afterwards to quickly get it to level 50 and unlock essences. Even if you only get the beginner essence it’s still better than nothing.

As far as Azerite gear goes I’m not sure it’s worth it. It gives more primary stat but no secondary stats and I don’t know how well those powers scale now.

Don’t bother with any SL borrowed powers they don’t work outside of SL zones.
