I understand Blizz not wanting to add faction change as a service because it might further exacerbate the faction imbalance (which it won’t btw, people who want to min/max will do so regardless by just rolling new characters and spending gold/money on boosts and gdkps, making the RMT within the game even worse) but for the love of god, why don’t you allow race change?
No ‘in-game’ or ‘fantasy’ reason for a gnome to suddenly become a dwarf? What is ‘fantasy-forward’ about going to a barber shop 5 times a day and changing your gender and skin color?
If RP is your primary concern then disable this service on RP realms. Seriously, how out of touch are the devs of this game. Punishing so many players for a completely arbitrary and not well thought out reason.

Yeah it makes NO sense whatsoever for made up characters to change race in a made up fantasy world where half the population can shapeshift into most animals, dragons, other races be it through their own made up magical powers or made up magical trinkets (orb of deception). But all the nonsense bullcrap they force on us that DOES make sense like sexchange at the barber.
Current Blizztard team is the pinnacle of stupidity.

Why do you wanna racechange so badly? If it’s for gameplay, it usually won’t help you, and if anything it’ll only cause frustration, if you still perform the same with the most op racials that you paid/rerolled for. If I was you, I’d just relax, and if you are in a position where racials would matter alot, then you probably spend so much time in the game, that raiding on a second char with your desired racials won’t be a problem for you…
I only do PvP content so yes, it is very important to me. And no, I don’t have time to re-level a new character and even if I did I would lose all my glad titles, mounts, rare items, etc.
If it’s for gameplay, it usually won’t help you
Check Warmane’s armory and see the top 2v2/3v3 teams and tell me it won’t help. jc.
It doesn’t matter why anybody would want to racechange. It was available in original WOTLK and it’s normal to expect it to be here with WOTLK classic.

I mean sure, take my statement out of context to fit your personal agenda. The problem with race change is that people will do things like going troll rogue early for assassination and then changing to orc for combat, or similar stuff. That’s just not good for the game. Most people are statistically not gladiators or 99 parsers. If those people reroll/pay for race change, and they don’t perform better, it’ll just make them feel frustrated, if they still lose. While if they win, it won’t be as satisfying, bc they think it’s because they used race change. The only players who actually benefit from race change are people unhappy with the aesthetics of their char or <1% of players, and not even them really, because now the competitive pve scene will become pay2win. Else it will just be a negative for the remaining playerbase overall.
They have Race change in retail, you should try there. Or choose better next time. Also there is min another 4 months till WotLK if not more. Plenty of time to level the class/race you want.
Also research better. In LK there was gender change, no race change.
Blizzard and Brian in particular is obviously lying through his teeth on the issue. They aren’t excluding race change because of the tiny-to-non-existant RP community. I am an actual Role Player fron Roleplaying realm (before it died and I went to ES) and I have absolutely no problem with faction and race change being in the game.
I do find it insulting that he takes my RP interest to justify this unwarraned change. My personal guess is their one intern can not get it to work reliably, or perhaps they want to add it later as the sales of lvl 70 boost peter out.

I am not now and have never been a heavy RPer, but I always (almost) lived on a RP server and kept to the extra rules being in effect there. Race, faction and so on changes would actually not bother me either

This is so stupid when at the same time they are making it so you can change from a skinny female to a buff male in the blink of an eye by visiting a barber. One minute you’re RP’ing as qtpi GF in goldshire and the next you come back as a male who’s popped a ton of steroids to get this amount of muscle in seconds.
Oh and you can change skin color as well, which for humans they would be ‘race’ changing.
You can’t RP as a white dude and race change to a black dude. This hurts the .0000001% RP’ers as much as the gnome changing to a tauren.
It might be hard to understand, but there is a difference between qol features and actual content/gear progression. One can be released at any time without much of an impact, the other one cannot.
Dont worry, blizz will magically change their mind 2 months into wotlk after everyone paid for race and faction change in TBC …
I would even bet be there would be the same changes and realm swaps as there are now, even without a single thread asking for them, since blizz cant ignore free cash …
well any sort of rp argument was crushed by blizz when they added deluxe edition options. although it is expected that some people would complain if they added race change. maybe some sort of cooldown would be a good idea in any case.
